for my rolling admission instate school I spent crap load of time answering the secondary essay questions. as a result I didnt submit it until 2nd half of october; however, after just 2 weeks I received an interview invite. on SDN I have seen people with way higher stats who completed everything in august still waiting for interview invites, so does this mean I have a good chance of acceptance as long as I dont completely bomb my interview?

Its definitely a good sign, you cant get in without an interview. I think at most places though, the interview is going to be a huge portion of their decision to accept or reject you... So I wouldnt assume you need to be forgettable. Last cycle I got an immediate II from a school, had a "vanilla" interview according to the exit interviewer, and got a quick rejection. I also got an II from a school after being complete for months, had a good interview, and got placed on the ranked wait-list where I came within a few seats of getting that acceptance >.<...

tl;dr:

Its a good sign. Blow the interviewer away anyway.

Enjoy the interview, be your self... if you're in early hopefully its a good sign... However, there's no such thing as a sure thing, but sounds like you're doing what's necessary to increase your odds...
