Fast track for certain sub-specialties?

Has anyone heard anything about the proposed "fast-track" CT surgery residency/fellowship program (an option to replace the 5+"2" program in place as of now)? If so, where is it being offered and is it a respected option?

I dont think it is a reality yet, and I have heard it will be at least 3-4 years before you can expect one to be ready to go.
