How does fafsa work for the january term? I am considering apply to either Ross or SGU for January 2013...will i be able to apply for FAFSA and get finaid in time? I heard that one can start applying for fafsa beginning january but the january semester would have already started before i recieve any finaid info? thanks!

The FAFSA needs to be submitted at least 45 days prior to the start of the term. This is the time it takes to determine eligibility and to receive your financial aid award letter. So for the typical January class, the FAFSA would need to be submitted....now.

Hold on. Take a minute and think about what you're rushing into. If you can get into SGU or Ross, you can get into an SMP. If you can get into an SMP, you can go to medical school in the US if you work hard. Going to the caribbean will be way more stressful than staying stateside, and it will put you at a significant disadvantage when trying to get a residency. Do yourself a favor and submit SMP applications for fall 2013. If, and only if, the SMP doesn't work, then you should think about going offshore.
