I applied to SUNY buffalo on pharmcas in January 31th. Suny Buffalo sent email on february 6th said that they received my application.....today (February 8th), they sent me an email for offer of interview!!!!! THAT WAS FAST!

I know that SUNY buffalo is a well-respected school and I love how they notified me when they received my application and how they are fast.

Good for you! Are you applying to attend their 2012 class? Just curious, when does it start?

Yes I'm applying to start in the fall of 2012. It starts on the fall...I'm not sure if it starts at the end of August or early September. Did I get your question right?

Nice! It reminds me of when I applied to Midwestern this cycle: I sent in my supplemental on August 31st, Midwestern emailed me on September 2nd saying they received it, and sent me an interview invite the very next day.

Congratulations on the interview and good luck! Make sure you check out the interview feedback on this site as well. It was very helpful for me. My interview invitation also came very quickly after they received my application, and the staff is wonderful. They really do their best to make sure that the interview is a very positive, non-stressful experience. The other really nice thing is that they seem to let you know of their decision very quickly. I interviewed on a Friday and had my response by Tuesday.

Whoaa thanks a lot for the tips! I really appreciate it 🙂 I will definitely check the interview feedback out. One more question, were you interviewed by one person or more than one? They said the interview is 45 minutes long, is that true? And what's up with the writing portion? Jeez, that was more than one question lol.

I was very surprised to be honest. I thought that such a reputable school should have some competition and should take sometime to choose their best candidate. I don't know how things work out.

The funny thing is they haven't even received my official PCAT scores yet, they only asked to send them the preliminary scores by scanning it until the official ones arrive to them. And they haven't received the academic update including the fall grades as well from me yet.

Hmmm the admission committee probably has some sort of system, because I know people who applied very early but only hears back for an invite 3 months later, so maybe you were ranked higher on their list? I have no idea, just my speculation. Also, the interviewing period is ending soon (last interview is end of March I think?), so they have to make sure they get all their desirable candidates to interview. Many applicants would already have chosen a school if other schools were too slow in offering interviews... I personally wouldn't want to wait 'till June to know I can enroll in September, lol.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your credentials?

I was interviewed by two people. I know one person who had only one interviewer, though. It was a very friendly interview. I don't think my interview went the entire time, but the person ahead of me went a little longer. I think it really depends on how fast you respond to their questions, and on whether or not you have a lot of questions. My interviewers were not on the faculty, so they said they probably would not be able to answer all of my questions, so I kept it really short at that point. Also, I am from the area and am taking all my prereqs there, so I did not have very many questions about the University. The written portion was nothing to stress about. Good luck!

thank you 🙂 My GPA is 4.0 with 92 credits and my PCAT composite is 79 % (low English scores but pretty high science scores). I have a biochemistry research experience, work as a pharm tech, and tutored all sciences especially organic chemistry for the past 3 years. Also applying in-state.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe they wouldn't want to lose a candidate that has strong credentials if they are too late in offering him interview thinking that he might have been chosen by other schools. I also applied to LIU more than a month before SUNY buffalo and oh boy, they didn't even email me to let me know that they received my application. And LIU is much much less competitive than SUNY buffalo...

Thank you, that truly helped 🙂

You submitted your PharmCas on Jan 31st or was your application mailed on the 31st?

No, I submitted my pharmcas on January 31st (exactly 10 minutes before their deadline since their deadline is February 1st). And they mailed it within two days I think and then on February 6th, SUNY buffalo sent an email to me saying they received everything.

Just to clarify the confusion that some people might get by thinking that it takes time (weeks) to verify an application and so on. I already applied to one school before SUNY buffalo and at that time, my application was verified and everything was received. So when you apply to another school later on, all they do is just mail the application which doesn't take more than a few days.
