I just had my second look day yesterday at my top pick and had an absolute blast! I figured it'd be cool to have a thread where people could share their favorite parts of their second look days.
Here's what I loved about mine:
At my school, they are very committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating a welcoming environment for everyone, and this was really reflected by the current students. The second look committee (all current first years) put the entire event together with that in mind. Some of the highlights included a video montage they put together of this camping trip all the incoming first years go on together before school starts in August, including a bunch of fun things like white water rafting. They also had a mixer for underrepresented students at one of the current student's houses, which was a lot of fun! We were able to spend a lot of time getting to know the other accepted students and the current students in an informal environment, which made it very relaxed. They also had everyone over at another current student's house before we all went out to a local bar together. Getting to drink and just hang out with everyone really created a unique bonding experience. The first & second years also all had a potluck with some really great food! I wasn't expecting to be welcomed so openly by people I had never met, so having that experience made me really excited to join the community when I start in August. It was legitimately the most fun I've had in a long time!
