http://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2009/07/27/francis-collins-pollutes-science-with-religion/ WHY EVOLUTION IS TRUE AND FRANCIS COLLINS IS BAD FOR SCIENCE

...I guess I outed myself as a confrontational atheist (even though this is an anonymous site). Arguing for miracles does make you a bad scientist. Men like Francis Collins are biggest threat to scientific thought. If we accept divine intervention as plausible, if we rule anything "beyond question," if religion ever stops someone from asking "why?" than religion becomes poison. So yes, I am tired of respecting religion. Voodoo, Catholicism, Orthodox Judaism, Islam, they're all absolutely BONKERS.

Have you read his explanations for a religious viewpoint coinciding with science? Believing in a god doesn't halt us or deter us from advancing our scientific knowledge and Dr. Collins is a great representative of just that.

76% of doctors believe in god.
74% believe in miracles.

I'm surprised at no mention of the early 20th century geneticists Mendel or Morgan... I'm also partial to Boveri (his Sea Urchin experiment is amazing) or even Weinberg (Ras gene fans? )With all the talk of Newton... Leibniz anyone?

My favorite Paracelsus, Dose makes the poison!

I forgot, one of my favorite mathematician/theoretical physicists - Emmy Noether.

I, for one, love Francis Collins. After meeting him last weekend and listening to him speak, he is one of the most brilliant people I have ever met. The way that he is able to have such a strong faith while being a scientist is something that I admire greatly... besides the fact that his resume is quite impressive.
And I admire Francoise Barre-Sinoussi a lot.

Oh and to theose who disrespect others for differing with them I give you my opinion as said by John Malkovich.
"For me, you're somewhere between a cockroach and that white stuff that accumulates at the corner of your mouth when you're really thirsty."

oh we can include mathematicians? i really admire mathematicians so that would be a long list.

Marie Curie...for proving to the world that women can do research just as well as men!

Yeah, it's amazing how the lack of a Y chromosome can subject a person to such unjust treatment in academics.
