Faxitron--gross room imaging for breast specimens

The recent post about the Cision Vision for lymph node grossing made me think I'd rather have a Faxitron in the gross room to image breast specimens to more easily find clips. Has anyone purchased one? What type of money are we talking for one? It may be easier than running blocks/specimens over to mammography.

It makes grossing much easier and faster. Plus you get extra money / billing codes. No brainer.

Wouldn't it be great if we had an extra billing code for each tool in the lab!

Do you see a lot of denials for this? We looked into it but most insurers cover only one of this code per date of service- and usually radiology gets the code in first for imaging the surgical specimen intra-op.

No, but even if it were denied 100% of the time it makes grossing easier, faster, and better, and money would be saved in PA/grossing time and reduced block count. Your tissue sections will target the areas of interest more accurately so you don't need to submit blocks with the hope of being in the right area.
