Hi guys. I'm a long-time lurker and I finally decided to post. I'm about a week into my dedicated study time and my step 1 date is in early June. I'm currently on my first pass through FA (read it here and there during second year) and I just reset my UW subscription so I can have a chance to go through it completely before I take the exam. I plan on studying mainly from these resources with a bit of goljan audio and blue margin/pictures from his RR book if there is time.

The reason why I'm posting is because I got a 242 on NBME 3 (about a week and half ago) and 261 (wtf?) on NBME 6 the other day. I feel like my score on NBME 6 is kind of a fluke, but it was a pleasant surprise anyway. Do you guys think I'd be doing myself a disservice if I decided to bump up my test date so I take it sometime next week? Do I really have much to gain by studying my a$s off for another few weeks? I definitely won't be able to get through FA/UW by then, but at the same time I'm worried that I'll forget more than what I'll learn if I wait until my scheduled test date. It would also be great to have an additional 2-3 weeks of break.

Thanks for your help!

i would take another practice test and if the score is still that awesome, i would push it up.. congrats!

Thanks ar. It seems like NMBE 6 is supposed to be a crappy test so I probably shouldn't look too far into my score. I'll just have to see what happens in the next week or 2.

Wow!! That's awesome. Congrats. How did you feel when you were taking the exam? Were you confident about the answer because you know your stuff, or are you a good multiple choice test taker? I don't know if it matters either way, but you could still gain some ground by going over whatever high yield information you haven't gone over. However, if you are scoring like that I'm not sure what high yield stuff you don't already know.

Good luck. Hope that you lock in that score.
