Oops lol and ladies
How was it!
Agreed, it was as expected. TerribleI thought it was pretty challenging overall. Fair in all aspects, but left the exam feeling like I got destroyed.

There was a question about an old guy that had a heart attack because he was trying to get a boner with a pill he got from one of his buddies, lol.
In general I thought it was more difficult than last August's. Hoping my UWSAs translate to the real thing.

Also didnt take this one*, was giving moral support to you folks. Know a lot of columbia students were taking this one since most of you also took the dental boards as well recently.
Honestly don't know if any of those D2's took it. But can tell you that at least 15 of the D3s did.. lol
Congrats to everyone who is done. 🙂 Was it hard because it was a lot of random info to know? Or because the question stems were hard/detailed? I'm looking to take it in August but I get mixed responses about what to expect!
Take a nbme self assessment, they are literally carbon copies in terms of structure to the cbse. It’s a mixture of both.
If I am someone who needs a lot of time to study and understand things when would be a good time to start studying? And when is a good time of the year to take the exam?

You only have 2 times a year where you can take it. One in Feb and one in August. Preferably a date where you can have weeks off beforehand.
And in terms for study schedule everyone is different so no idea about your situation. I studied about 3 months with the last 6 weeks going ham.
Okay thanks. Did you take it before third or fourth year?

I took it after first year lol
Thanks for the info! Is the First Aid "Rapid Review" topic list an accurate depiction of the topics on the exam? I know you have to know them more in depth, but is it a good representation of the diseases, etc on the exam?
Not sure what you meant, The table of contents for first aid you mean? Cause the exam covers the entire 700 something page book + more stuff.(uworld)
Okay just checked, you meant the rapid review at the end of the book, yeah that is nowhere near enough. It basically is something you read the day before the exam to try and cram as much in as possible.

The Rapid Review only covers some really quick buzzwords that you'll see across the entire book. I actually memorized most of that section for the last exam and it wasn't enough.. you need to really comprehensively understand all of the topics to do well on this exam.
But to answer your question, yes it should give you an idea of the sort of material that's on this exam.
Do you go to a school with a integrated medical school curriculum? How did you have enough knowledge to take it

I did but it was only integrated for only 2/3 of the first year. I gained the knwodlege by following UWorld and First Aid. I studied alongside the dental school stuff.
Wow, you must be really smart. How do you suggest studying for someone who will be going to a lower ranked public school? Start studying 1st year as well. I think it would take longer for me to understand so I would take it later

Gotta build a base of knowledge first. First aid won’t mean a thing until you get that. Follow first aid along with whatever class you are taking. Someone in a non integrated curriculum can probably help you better than I can. Med school curriculum helps because we had time to hammer first aid and nothing else. It’s all about timing, cause when you start learning all about dental materials and dentures that has no relevance to first aid making it difficult to split time between the two.
Does anyone know if they curve each test? I was under the assumption that the USMLE is not curved based on others scores. Not sure about the CBSE and if they do, do they lump med school takers in the score report with dental students?
They do not curve it. It is score against how the medical school students scored back in the 1990s or something. These are past usmle exams.

Not sure if that is true; however, assuming it is. Lets say this "past USMLE" was harder than August's CBSE which was "past USMLE". Could you do worse on this percentage wise and get the same or better score.
None of us on Sdn know the specific scoring metrics of the exam. Everyone’s post is merely a guess. Contact NBME directly to get the correct answer. Not sure if that is true; however, assuming it is. I think they'll be released next Friday. I know of some students who have yet to take the exam and they might be given the same version.

How do people take it at a later date than everyone else?
How do people take it at a later date than everyone else?
Some people observe sabbath on saturdays and take them on Sunday’s the next day. Idk about a week + later
scores wont be out for another month according to AAOMS. lots of people had to reschedule due to weather and haven't taken the exam yet.

If they take different versions why would it even matter, the scores would be completely independent. What a joke

edit: they'll be taking the same versions from the 9th (there are 5 apparently)
Why will it take a whole month compared to the usual 1 week? I'd imagine if people needed to reschedule, they should be taking it this weekend (tomorrow). Did you speak with AAOMS?
