I admire her for trying to make a difference against the odds. I just think she's youthfully naive.

agreed. a little enthusiasm and idealism may not be a bad thing for congress

You are out of bounds. I want you to notice that I didn't make nor imply a single thing about heir looks or background. You did. My observation is that Progressive ideology is a wall to well-functioning political process. But, this is where we are in these times: If a white/male or privileged person criticizes a female or minority about their ideology, it's an indication of xenophobia or misogyny. SMH...

Point: Modern wall in Israel prevents illegal border crossing.
Yes/no?

yes.

the applicability of the gaza wall example and the mexico wall cannot be made, however.

this discussion is difficult enough, i hope it doesnt devolve into the arab-israeli conflict

Point: Modern wall in Israel prevents illegal border crossing.
Yes/no?
that wall was not put in place to prevent immigration. it was put in to prevent suicide bombers. it is associated with shoot to kill orders by troops who man the border. and even so, there were still 9 suicide attacks in 2010.

so yes and no. Wikipedia:
YES:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs predicts that completion of the barrier will continue to prevent terrorist attacks[53] since "[a]n absolute halt in terrorist activities has been noticed in the West Bank areas where the fence has been constructed."[49]

Israeli officials (including the head of the Shin Bet) quoted in the newspaper Maariv have said that in the areas where the barrier was complete, the number of hostile infiltrations has decreased to almost zero. Maariv also stated that Palestinian militants, including a senior member of Islamic Jihad, had confirmed that the barrier made it much harder to conduct attacks inside Israel. Since the completion of the fence in the area of Tulkarm and Qalqilyah in June 2003, there have been no successful attacks from those areas. All attacks were intercepted or the suicide bombers detonated prematurely.[54] In a March 23, 2008 interview, Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shalah complained to the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq that the separation barrier "limits the ability of the resistance to arrive deep within [Israeli territory] to carry out suicide bombing attacks, but the resistance has not surrendered or become helpless, and is looking for other ways to cope with the requirements of every stage" of the intifada.[55]
NO:
Other factors are also cited as causes for the decline. According to Haaretz, a 2006 report by the Shin Beit concluded that "[t]he fence does make it harder for them [terrorists]" but that attacks in 2005 decreased due to increased pursuing of Palestinian militants by the Israeli army and intelligence organizations, Hamas's increased political activity, and a truce among Palestinian militant groups in the Palestinian Territories. Haaretz reported, "[t]he security fence is no longer mentioned as the major factor in preventing suicide bombings, mainly because the terrorists have found ways to bypass it."[56] Former Israeli Secretary of Defence Moshe Arens says that the reduction in Palestinian violence is largely due to the IDF's entry into the West Bank in 2002.[57]

it is also been determined to violate international law.

Look, I've noticed over the years that you are a pretty shallow thinker: Because you don't like SOME of my ideas, you don't like ANY of my ideas. Working from that base you make all kinds of assumptions about my convictions and why I might be motivated to take the positions I take. Based upon introspection, you might might be surprised to know that...

I don't identify as white (my mother was white but my father is middle-eastern)...
I think dark skin tones are beautiful...
I have a black step-son...
I support feminist causes...
I push my daughter to excel in non-gendered stereotype activities...
I support bilingual education...
I support secure & open borders...
I chaired a local municipal levy committee (that's right, I advocated & voted to raise taxes)...

I also detest hypocrisy on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. I detest bigotry dressed up as social justice. I detest corporations masquerading as non-profit health systems. I detest all threats to individual freedom, but especially coercive threats from the Government. I believe in free enterprise, liberty, and self-determination.

Can't you just admit that you got triggered and jumped to conclusions about the picture of the "wall" I posted?

"Soldiers were also given new rules of engagement,[6] which, according to Ha'aretz, allow soldiers to fire at anyone seen crawling there at night illegally into Israeli territory.[7] Palestinians attempting to cross the barrier into Israel by stealth have been shot and killed.[8]"

i know you just love your guns and violence, but this is not people who are "violently resisting arrest", mr. straw-man.

you want to shoot the 30 year old guatemalan mom and her 2 kids now?
I was clear and intentional in my word choice, don’t try and put words into my mouth.

If someone crossing the border gets violent with border patrol enforcement lethal force should absolutely be available

your posted the pic in order to trigger a reaction. well, you got.

textbook gaslighting.

i never said i dont like some of your ideas and i often agree with them. i guess you dont like to admit that part.

the humblebrag resume that you continue to post doesnt really further your agenda here. your claims should be able to stand on their own. its great that you volunteer, give time, are religious, see medicaid, etc. wonderful. seriously. but c'mon. its clear what you are doing here.

oh, my god, absolutely terrifying!!!!

your post is completely xenophobic and racist, BTW.

also, im sorry, but AOC is hot.

There is nothing xenophobic nor racist in drussos post of some people. If you wish to view everything you see through SJW "find the victim" lenses, have fun with it. Not everybody else is wearing those lenses, however. If somebody is not wearing your SJW lenses, it makes them rational people, not racists or xenophobes. drusso posted a picture of some people. He said nothing even remotely xenophobic or racist about the picture. I presume they were there voluntarily for the picture, therefore I presume they had no problem being grouped together as representative of something, whatever it may be. I have no idea who any of them are except the socialist on the far left. That is how non-specific drussos post was.

drusso's post may not be inappropriate.

it is not xenophobic or racist, it is a picture of exclusively women. (though the context of the post is unexpected...)

his post may not be problematic. hyperalgesia's post could be construed, however, as disingenuous and borderline sexist.

edit - reworded, sorry for making slight changes.

so you are back to accusing others of racism and sexism again? jeez

My point was that the picture itself, which was presumably composed by Democrat Party PR, is exploitative. The "identity models" in the picture are presented as token objects with desirable superficial traits that sell the Democrat Party to its supple supporters.

clearly you dont read. doesnt the post say "it is not xenophobic or racist"?

hyper, i take the picture to be a group of new congressmen who grouped together because of similar backgrounds and upbringings. why do you have to assume the Democratic party is being exploitative and sexist?
do you have the same thoughts about an image of a group of white male congressmen?

what do you see when you look at this picture? do you see ""identity models" in the picture are presented as token objects with desirable superficial traits that sell the Democrat Party to its supple supporters?" or do you see 13 Senators of the US?

Fair enough. But I'm sure a lot of Democrats will take pride in the image of diversity and minority representation. I don't think it's malevolent, it's just politics. I would compose the same image if I were trying to inspire the party.

Of course not, this picture was not made to "show off" how conservative the Republicans are, just like the one above showing ALL the new congress members wasn't made for that purpose either. I think we all know that the constructed minority-laden-woman picture is purely political propaganda...

Back to the original.

Obama care was a giant failure and the libs won’t fess up to it. Repubs aren’t doing much better but at least they don’t want to overtax us for a terrible insurance that we get fined if we don’t buy it.

What a rip off and I can’t believe people support this crap.

meanwhile Elizabeth Warren, a white bigot that abused the culture of a marginalized people in order to advance her career, is running for President in 2020.

Occasional Cortex isnt dumb....she supposedly has planned her course through BU, worked for Kennedy, learned the ropes for community organizing, used the democratic party to get her first office, and is now her own best marketeer for socialism. She will continue during these next 9 years building her radical coalition and if somehow the dems win in 2020 she will position herself for 2028. At the rate this country is moving to the left, 2028 will be prime time for her. While promoting socialism for everyone, she wears $5000 outfits.
