What type of loans have you taken out/plan to take out for dental school?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that you can't defer private loans in the case you decide to specialize, whereas you can with federal loans. If what I heard is correct, I would say it depends on if you plan on going into GD or specializing. Because I'm not 100% sure about this, I didn't vote. Don't want to spread misinformation!

This might be of some help though: I was in pharmacy school this past year before deciding to switch to dentistry, and I decided to do a variable interest private loan through Wells Fargo because the average rate was historically about 3.5% (significantly lower than the federal loan offered). Additionally, pharmacy school was pretty inexpensive, so I knew that if I decided to do a residency after school, the debt wouldn't be too much to handle (and thus I wouldn't have to worry about trying to defer loan repayment) on a limited salary.
