Has anybody done a FAP application because I have some questions. Thank you guys/gals for your time. God bless.

I worked for 4 months of 2007 and only made 2800. I know I have to submit my w2 but where can I get it from? Does the financial aid award letter have to be official or can I print it from my school website? And what is the other aid statement? I just got married in november of 2007, should I put my wifes income? Thanks for the help, trying to get ready for June 2008!

Once you've submitted your taxes and everything you turn in your financial aid award letter by simply printing it out online. You turn in your 1040 form too. If you didn't have your wife on your taxes then it does not matter from what I know. You can get your W2 by calling your employer, they usually have a copy.

Ok sounds like a plan. If I am not filing taxes, which I'm not, should I put her income on there?

I have a question about this program too. Under my "Financial Information", I keep getting an error saying that I'm putting an incorrect amount of "Non-taxable income". In 2007, I literally only made around $200 from work, and never received any type of governmental aid (except financial aid, which they say not to include) so I put $0 in the 'non-taxable' field and $200 in the "Income earned from work in 2007" field. As for my parents, I put $0 for them too, because they don't receive any type of Social Security benefits, welfare benefits, veteran's benefits, etc. What am I doing wrong? Am I just misinterpreting the definition of "non taxable income"?

I remember getting this error message when I was filling out the FAP... I called AAMC and they said the amount couldnt be zero and they told me that the online thing was just a initial screening tool and they look at the actual copies of yours and your parents taxes if you qualify for the FAP based on the online screening... so I just ended up putting random numbers for that category until the computer would accept my app (i think it was somewhere around a few hundred dollars), then sent in my tax forms and whatnot to the FAP program and all was well.

My understanding was that you did include the portion of financial aid that goes to paying for things like housing and food. Anyone applying for med school is 99.9% sure to have been provided with food and shelter (either directly or by funding) and the value of this funding or food and shelter is supposed to be included in non-taxable income; which is why you get an error when you put in an unreasonably low amount.

Doubt it matters what you fill in there though...

Got it. Thanks for the help!
