Does anyone have some insight on what the ADEA expects for the letter of explanation?

I work for my parents, so I don't file taxes. So, I don't have a 2016 Federal Income Tax Return (including the 1040 tax forms and W2s).

Is there a general format, length, etc. for the letter of explanation somewhere? Also, will one explanation suffice, or will I have to write separate ones for the 1040 tax form and W2s?

Thanks!

It's super casual. Just explain why you need the FAP and your circumstance regarding tax forms etc. One letter of explanation is good enough. Just make sure to explain why you don't have certain paperwork as they usually reject all applications with missing forms.

I have the same exact question, I wonder if it significantly hurts the applicants chances.
Has anyone been approved for FAP with a letter of explanation to substitute missing documents?
BUMP for answers.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I though the application opened June first? Can I apply right now? Is there some sort of lateness to this? (is it first come first serve?)

Edit: OP. Even if you have missing documents, you should definitely still go for it. It won't hurt to try. Just be as genuine as possible.

It opens June 1st. It's also "first come first serve."

But yeah, still waiting for an email back from the ADA on more information about the letters of explanation...

Yes. my mom isn't able to work so she doesn't file for federal tax returns. I just explained why i was missing her returns and just provided what I could. It was accepted!
