I just called AACOMAS, and was told that I can now submit the fee waiver application. They referred me to page 5 of the instruction manual. I still can't access the actual application link, is there one? is there an actual application? or do I only need to mail them my financial documentations and SAR, and they will take care of it?

I'm confused, please let me know.

Cool I forgot all about this. I hope I qualify.

Never mind. Just called them again, and they told me that there's no application. I only need to submit a signed and dated SAR.

This was my next question. So all you're going to put in the envelope is your SAR? I don't have an SAR so I'll just be sending my Fed tax return. Nothing else needed though, right?

yeah nothing else.

"The only documents that are required for the fee waiver are your Student Aid Report from completing FAFSA or your 2011 tax returns and the returns of anyone claiming you as a dependent, if applicable. ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us through your application. Thank you."

Thanks 🙂

Also remember to include a self-addressed, stamped enveloped so they can send you back a response. I believe the response can be delayed if you don't include the envelope.

?

it doesn't say to do that anywhere

It's in there somewhere. I almost missed it too, but it definitely says to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

The word "envelope" is not in the instructions at all, according to ctrl + F.

i think you're mistaken lol

This is ridiculous. Why isn't it in the pdf?

It was on the 2012 guide but when I sent mines off earlier today I reread the 2013 guide and didn't see it. I decided not to include it.

Also, they tell you to include a cover letter with your AACOMAS ID #.

EDIT: I SEE IT IS ON THEIR WEBSITE NOW THAT I LOOK AT IT AGAIN BUT NOT THE GUIDE. OH WELL!! I ALREADY MAILED MINES DURING LUNCH. I ONLY NEED THEM TO APPLY IT TO THE APPLICATION IF THEY WANT TO GIVE IT TO ME. IF NOT, TO HECK WITH IT.

I sent an email asking for clarification. I'll post the response here when i get it.

I called AACOMAS last week and they said they don't need self addressed envelope anymore, so I didn;t send. I do however, signed and dated my SAR and wrote my AACOMAS ID on it.

Thank you!

I didn't write my ID but i did sign and date it :-x. i hope that won't cause too many problems.

I wouldn't postpone. They started accepting application last week; we're already late. Just include the envelope. Saving the extra stamp isn't worth jeopardizing your opportunity of receiving the waiver.

How important is it to include the AACOMAS ID? I didn't see that anywhere on the instruction or on the fee waiver homepage.

Thanks. Glad I forgot to throw mine in the mailbox today. I've already sealed the envelope though. I didn't put my AACOMAS ID on it, just signed my name and dated my tax return. Hope they respond to you soon, chiddler.

Just to be safe, I included the self-addressed stamped envelope AND wrote my AACOMAS ID on all my documents.

I'm pretty sure I read that they get back to you electronically.

kind of redundant now, since pisiform already called them...

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It is outdated. Please refer specifically to the application instructions, citing page 5.

Thank you."

Ok thanks. I guess I'll open up this envelope and add in my AACOMAS ID.

I'm confused. Were we supposed to include our AACOMAS ID #? Page 5 mentions nothing regarding the ID# or the self-addressed stamped envelope.

I wrote my AACOMAS ID just to be safe. I figured that it couldn't hurt but I didn't see anything saying that I needed to include it. I also sent both SARs (figured the 2011/12 one is what they wanted but sent the 12/13 one as well). And a self-addressed stamped envelope. I mailed it out on the 3rd right after it went live.

I just saw on the "other documents" section that my fee waiver was received today but is still being processed (status says logged). Does anyone else have that added to theirs?

"If you did not complete the FAFSA or do not have a copy of your Student Aid Report, please contact the US Department of Education."

Has anyone tried to contact the US Department of Education? How do they sign off on your fee waiver application?

My fee waiver application under the "Other Documents" tab changed from "Logged" to "Not Received". It wants me to print a request form and send it to Interfolio. What does this mean? Does this mean they need additional information, that I'm not approved, or does it happen to everyone?

What's the criteria for receiving the waiver? Is it rare?

What do we use 'Other Documents" tab for? Does anyone know?

Mine said "logged" for the past few days but now it has changed to "not received", and I'm freaking out! Did that happen to you too?

I didn't send a tax form for 2011 since I didn't file taxes, but my parents did and I'm still a dependent so I sent that instead. I think I did file taxes for 2010 though, so should I send the 2010 taxes instead of 2011 since I don't have that?

My fee waiver appeared in that tab.

Sent from my SCH-R910 using Tapatalk

ok Mine didn't say anything but I just clicked add documents and it asked me if it is for fee waiver app. I checked yes and a fee waiver line appeared with status not received. I am not sure if I was even supposed to do that

This morning, I checked "other documents" and noticed that my application was "logged". At later time of the day, it showed "received".

What is the next step? how would I know the verdicts?

They say wait 2 to 4 weeks. I will be calling if I haven't heard anything in 3 weeks just in case.

As of the 10th, it says received. I would call them and see what they have to say about the "not received" status update.

Update:

I received an email from AACOMAS informing me that they sent me a message to my AACOMAS account. I checked the message by clicking on the "support" link in the upper right corner.

Here's a copy and paste of the message:

Dear Ibn Alnafis MD (AACOMAS ID xxxxxx-2013),

This communication is to inform you that you have met the requirements for an AACOMAS fee waiver. If you are applying online, you must wait until the application fee waiver is applied to your account prior to paying and submitting your application. If you pay and submit your application prior to AACOMAS posting your fee waiver to your account, the fee waiver will become invalid.

The fee waiver may be applied to a maximum of three (3) AACOMAS colleges with no charge. If you wish to apply to more than three colleges, beginning with the fourth designation, you must pay the standard application fee. For example, to apply to one additional college (four total), you must pay the standard AACOMAS fee for one college; to apply to two additional colleges (five total), you must pay the standard fee for two colleges. Please refer to the current AACOMAS application instructions for the appropriate application fees if you wish to apply to additional colleges.

Note: The AACOMAS application fee waiver is for the AACOMAS fee only. These fee waiver vouchers are only valid for 45 days from June 1st when application submission begins. You must submit your application within that time frame to receive the waiver. After 45 days, if there is any balance, your fee waiver voucher(s) will be revoked and awarded to another recipient.

Please feel free to contact our office if we can be of assistance in the application process. Our best wishes to you in your educational pursuits.

Sincerely,
Shatoni Hill

I got the same message. Awesome!!

Very cool. When did you guys mail your applications in?

Mines was logged today as well.

I sent mine in May 3rd, the day the app went live. It was logged on Tuesday, the 8th, received on the 10th and I received the message that I had been awarded it this afternoon.

Where on AACOMAS does it show that your waiver was logged?

Oh ok thanks. I didn't get mine back yet. I sent them a tax return though, so maybe that takes longer.

I sent mine in on Tuesday and I had to use tax return because I work full-time and am out of school.

I found out 8 days after I mailed it (from Michigan), so I imagine that it will start to take longer as more people send in requests.
