Hey everyone,
I graduated from school in Dec 05 and thought I wanted to go into medical research up until this year. This year I did some "self-searching" and realized research is not something I would like to do for the rest of my life. I started exploring other options and decided that dentistry is the perfect fit for me. I currently work a full-time job in a research lab, and I am shadowing two Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons at the hospital. I somewhat started studying for the DAT and I would like to know how can I enhance my credentials. My undergrad GPA was a 3.6. Thanks for all the help everyone 👍

Your GPA is solid and research always looks good on the application. Score well on the DAT and you are set. My only real suggestion is to also shadow a general dentist in addition as you will be doing more general stuff during dental school and you should make sure you are okay with being a general dentist in case oral surgery doesn't pan out for you.

I am looking into shaowing a general dentist, but I work a 9-6pm job M-F to support myself. I am trying to find a general dentist to shadow on Sat, or might ask my boss to come in late and work later two days in the week....but I am definitely planning on scoring well on the DAT...
