Feedback from MGH

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received a nice e-mail from the PD in response to my thank you letter, and then I received a phone call from the PD in mid-January.

As an applicant a couple of years ago, I would give warning that I received a substantial amount of positive feedback from the PD, including email and telephone conversation containing statements like "we would love to see you in Boston" and "we look forward to training you" - a classmate from med school received a similar amount of feedback. To my surprise I did not match there as I had hoped, although my classmate did. Be wary about allowing feedback as an independent factor to unduly influence your rank list.

Tomato, thanks for sharing your experience. It's definitely advice worth heeding. It appears that calls and emails from programs may just be something they do somewhat indiscriminantly.
