I just took the DAT today.. let me know what you think of the scores, and any info about schools that you know. I have fellowships on my resume to back things up as well as a lot of dental clinical experience, started a club, and have been an active community participant and active sport participant. Should i retake the DAT?

PAT:22
QR: 14
RC: 20
BIO: 16
GC: 15
OC: 17
TS: 16
AA: 16

GPA: 3.39

You've got great PAT and RC scores but everything else needs improvement. What did you use to study for the bio, gc and oc sections? I did fairly well in these sections so I could probably help you out. 🙂

Tell her how you studied for the sciences and math(like how you concentrated for each subject like which days u did what, etc...)? and what did you use to practice. and how you use your practice tests(ie how often did you practice, etc..)? and were you confident about the things that you learned or memorized? and like she said list all the materials you used to study.

she did almost perfect in those sections and will help you improve. use her advice to help you study better for the next time. ask her to be your mentor. 👍 good luck :luck:

I took a Kaplan DAT online prep, used the Kaplan txtbook, and got the DAT destroyer. I crammmeeeddd this week. I was working while studying so that took a toll I think which is why I was all about work this week. I couldn't get my science up for some reason -- even though i'm a chemistry and architecture double major. The science sections were so different than any of the practice tests I took this week offered by Kaplan online. I got the piano reading section... also for the math, i read through the DAT destroyer book and other that -- just kinda winged that section. I was most worried about my science section. What can I do to do better in the science and the math sections? Tips? resources?

answer the questions that i have asked so that we can get a realistic idea on how you prep. for your test. so others can suggest a better method on how to concentrate on the things that matter the most of the dats.

Okay this is how I studied: for the sciences, I read through the whole Kaplan prep book - did all the practice section questions - did all the online kaplan courses - and did all the online quizzes and workshops. Also, i read through most of the DAT Destroyer 2009. I studied from 10AM to about 11/12PM. Also, i'm a chemistry major.

For math, same deal as about for the sciences, however i didn't do all the section quizzes online.

My basic method was read read read, and take practice quizzes and tests. I woke up around 10 and then studied all day with food breaks.

For the practice tests, I pretty much took one fri, sat, sun. I saw my score increase each day, but used each test to see how I could improve my score. Fri i made sure to get better timing and ear plugs. Saturday, my timing was up, but my sciences were down I made sure to take less notes on RC. Sunday, everything was up and i did awesome. Felt prepped. Then today, day of the test, i leafed through a few things I didnt' want to forget, and took the test. I didn't feel 100% confident, but I am going back to school and have a lot on my plate for my final semester and wanted to take the test to get it out of the way and make sure that I could retake it in April, if need be, so I could still get my applications in early.

Materials used to study: Kaplan online prep (no course, just online material and access to Kaplan online course material, quizzes and workshops) DAT Destroyer.

You did all of that in one week? 7days?

I have a question, what is this piano passage that everyone keeps talking about?

does the same piano passage appear often?

The ADA cycles DAT questions and passages. They have a giant question bank that they reorganize, creating new tests. I'm sure they change/ make new questions every so often. The piano passage appeared second when I took the DAT and was a complete b1tch. The information was not too difficult, but deciphering answers and finding answers to questions was tough. The questions jumped around the passage a lot, so you kept having to scroll up and down, up and down. There were about 5 subjective questions, which you need to read the passage to get or just get lucky. I honestly don't know what exactly made it so difficult, but it took me the longest and I still left a couple blank. I remember marking questions, figuring I would come across the answers later, but I never did. That was the real frustrating part. A couple questions I spent roughly two minutes on, reading in detail for the answer, but just never came across it. It was really weird and frustrating.
Some people have had the piano passage and done fine, but some have not fared so well. +pissed+
