MCAT Study Guide:

Total MCAT Resources:
  • Content Review:
    1. ExamKrackers Complete Set 10th Edition (Princeton Review, Kaplan, The Berkeley Review, NextStep, will also do the job, but I recommend ExamKrackers).
    2. Khan Academy MCAT Section Videos.
    3. Khan Academy Notes Dropbox.
  • Practice Passages:
    1. ExamKrackers 101 Passages Books. (All six 101 books).
    2. Khan Academy Practice Passages (All of them).
    3. NextStep Strategy and Practice books (All of them), and Verbal Practice book (just one book).
    4. Princeton Review HyperLearning Verbal Passages Book.
    5. UWorld MCAT Qbank.
    6. AAMC Question Banks/Section Banks/Questions/ALL questions that AAMC has released.
  • Practice Exams:
    1. Altius 10 Practice Exams.
    2. NextStep 10 Practice Exams.
    3. ExamKrackers 6 Practice Exams.
    4. AAMC Sample Exam, and Two Official Practice Exams.

Studying Instructions:

1. For Content Review you should use:
  • Science subjects you know well: (For example: Biology, Chemistry, Organic, Biochemistry) Use the ExamKrackers books, and supplement with Khan Academy videos wherever necessary.
  • Science subjects you don’t know well: (For example: Physics) Try to see if you can read through and understand the ExamKracker book. If not, watch the videos on Khan Academy to get a general overview of all the topics, and then read the ExamKracker book.
  • Psychology: Watch through the Khan Academy Videos, and then study the Khan Dropbox Notes, and then read the ExamKracker book.
  • CARS: Read the ExamKracker book. And then do practice passages from the Princeton review HyperLearning book, and then NextStep Verbal practice book.

2. For Practice Passages you should use:
  • ExamKrackers 101 passages books.
  • Khan Academy practice passages.
  • If time allows, NextStep Strategy and Practice books. If time does not allow, skip to AAMC questions.
  • If time allows, UWorld MCAT Qbank. If time does not allow, skip to AAMC questions.
  • AAMC Question banks/section banks/Questions. Do ALL questions that AAMC has released except the three practice exams at this point.

3. For Practice Exams you should use:
  • Altius 10 practice exams.
  • If time allows, NextStep 10 practice exams. If time does not allow, skip to Number 4 below.
  • If time allows, ExamKrackers 6 practice tests. If time does not allow, skip to Number 4 below.

4. Next take the official Sample Test. Grade your exam. Go over all the explanations for the questions, including what you got correct.
  • If you scored 1-2 points above your target score on all sections, then proceed to step 5. If not, see next bullet point.
  • If you scored no more than 0-2 points below your target score on all sections/most sections, then do more practice exams until your scoring 1-2 above your target score on each section. If you scored below 1-2 points of your target score on some sections, see next bullet point.
  • On the sections that you scored below 1-2 points of your target, focus on these sections first by doing more practice passages in these sections. Then move on to practice exams again until your scoring 1-2 above your target score on each section

5. Next take the official Practice Test I. Grade your exam. Go over all the explanations for the questions, including what you got correct.
  • If you scored 1-2 points above your target score on all sections, then proceed to step 6. If not, see next bullet point.

7. At this point you should be ready. Ace the MCAT!
