Hey guys. I'm a pre-med freshman and I'm halfway through the semester and honestly I'm feeling a bit disappointed at how everything is going. I'm not doing horrible in all my classes except Philosophy which is at a C+ sigh. Everything else is eh. Idk I had a lot of high expectations. Idk I just wanted to get that off my chest and confess that somewhere.

It's fine. Just do DO. Anyone can get into that. *Cue Osteopathic Army Invasion* Jk guys.

Anyway, it's your first semester. It's the transition year. Don't think too hard about it. I know a lot of people that had 3.3's first year and got it up to 3.7-3.8 by the time they applied 3 years later and got in with ease. Just be confident and use this as a learning experience that you need to study hard if you want to play hard.

It's okay. The key point of this whole journey is to see if you can improve and work under stress.

If it's any encouragement, I got a C+ in my freshman philosophy class and I was accepted to med school, hahaha.

Edit: If you let yourself get discouraged this early, it's gonna be a longgg road. Keep your head up and crush it!

Thanks. I really needed that guys!

College is nothing like high school and a lot of students have trouble adapting.

You need to figure out why you are doing poorly. Go check out what academic advising resources are available at your school and start using them this semester.

Hang in there, this can be overcome if you put in the effort.

What other classes are you taking? What grades are you getting in those?

Why are you getting a C+ in Philosophy? Which class is that? Intro? Deductive Logic? what?

at least Phl isn't a BCPM class.

Figure out why you're not doing as well as you want to, then make those changes. Don't count out an MD yet bc there are schools that value upward trend.

I'm taking Bio, Chem, Bio Lab, Chem Lab, and Modern Europe and they're ok.

If you are at a C+ in philosophy and you still have 1 month left, there may be time for you to get up to a solid B or B+. I would talk to your professor and see if there is any way that you can improve...especially if you have a final exam that is worth more than the midterms. A lot of people stop caring halfway through the semester because they believe that they are already too far behind to get a good grade. You can come back from this, even if it is improving to a B- or B. YOU CAN DO IT. 🙂
