So with the Dec. 1st acceptances I got into NYU and BU, waitlisted at Buffalo. Put my deposit down for NYU, got lazy/wanted to see what else might happen and I got invited for an interview at Tufts today! Prettttty sure Tufts > NYU/BU. I don't know, should I go for it??

I was in the same position as you, got into NYU Dec. 1st, and then got an interview for Tufts in January. I decided to go to my Tufts interview, and the rest is history 😉

You're in NY, it's not that hard to get to Boston. Out of those four schools, I'd say go to Buffalo if you get in, but if not, Tufts is your next best option. Definitely worth going to the interview.

Do it! I doesn't hurt to check out the campus/school. I think Tufts comes out to be cheaper than those schools you got into also.

Someone asked me a similar question yesterday, I said do it! It'll be one of those things that you won't need to have any regrets about, you won't have to wonder "what if I DID go to that interview? Would my life be different?" Whatever it costs you time or money-wise to go, is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, plus it sounds like you're already excited about going because its one of your top choices!

Never life with "what ifs." Go. I had a similar dilemma and even though I'm not going to that school, I'm very happy I went and checked it out. If nothing else, it will solidify your decision.

thanks for all the encouragement guys. i'm still feeling a twinge because i'm just starting physics II now, and would need to take biochem the summer session before classes start (if i were to be accepted and go there)! plus, i might be getting some very nice free housing in manhattan if i stay at NYU... gahhh

at first i was thinking tufts was so much better than the schools i got into, but when people ask me why, i don't really have an answer! can anyone help me out on that?

You will discover the answer at your interview and visit. Don't believe it until you see it with your own eyes and hear it with your own ears.

Yeah, it def. does not hurt to look at what you can potentially have. There is nothing to lose here. You're already accepted to NYU. I freaking loved NYU!

Wow seriously? Not to sway your judgment, but free housing (that too, very niiiice.. in manhattan) for four years!!! The living expenses are what kept me away from NYU...

I agree with everyone here... if you have the notion that another school might be a better fit, you should go to the interview and check it out firsthand. Why not?

But... why say Tufts > NYU/BU, when you don't have a solid answer for the question? 🙂

A plug for NYU and NYC: Free housing in Manhattan means saving around 1200-1500 a month; for 4 years, that's a solid 16-18,000 a year. Also, you won't have to worry about leasing an apartment and you'll have a place in a city with MANY options available for the summer.

That said, my dentist in Illinois said he thoroughly enjoyed his Tufts Dental School experience, and I'm sure they've only gotten better in the 6 years since he's graduated 🙂
