I am going to hopefully complete training in Australia hopefully in Plastics, however i'd like to complete a fellowship in The US, maybe in Hands.

I was told taht i sit three Exams to get a liscence in the US, and then i can jump straight into a fellowship after being trianed in Aus. Is that how it works?

Cheers

Well, it takes a while to complete all 3 steps of the USMLE and costs a significant amount of money. It's four tests total (Step 2 has two parts) and the total cost is over $2500. There is some waiting time in between each step as well.

In addition, many fellowships are reluctant to offer positions to graduates of medical schools outside the US. This will vary depending upon the type and competitiveness of the fellowship. Your best bet is probably to get in touch with a few fellowships in which you aren't interested and ask for their guidance.

I say this not to discourage you, but to warn you that the process may not be easy. Good luck!!

There is a surgery forum on here, as well as a dedicated plastic surgery forum. Your questions are probably more appropriate there, so if you ask on here a moderator may move your question to that forum
