Fellowship application

Hi
I am an IMG and will finish my residency in France in june 2023.
I wanted to apply for a fellowship (neuroradiology) and need a little help with the dates.
When should I apply? And what should I be doing in the meantime?
(Already have my step 1 and step 2 and working on my pathway)

Neuroradiology participates in the NRMP match, so applications open a little over a year before your fellowship start date.

For example:

The dates for the 2020 Radiology – Neuroradiology Specialty Fellowship Match for 2021 appointments are:

• March 25, 2020 Match Opens
• April 22, 2020 Rank Order List Entry Opens
• May 13, 2020 Quota Change Deadline
• May 27, 2020 Rank Order List Certification Deadline
• June 10, 2020 Match Day

In your case, you'd probably apply around March 2022 to start in July 2023.

I believe there are still places that offer positions outside the match, in that case they don't necessarily follow the traditional calendar. I'm not sure how those positions are announced, but some IMGS will do the 4-year alternate pathway and I believe they apply directly and get offered the position or not.

It's helpful to have all the steps completed for licensing purposes and visa status, etc.
