Thanks for the congrats! For your questions:
Were you looking on the East Coast or West? Or somewhere in between?
I primarily interviewed in the midwest region, but also on the East Coast, down south, and 1 program out west.
How many programs did you apply to, and how many interviews did you do?
I was paranoid, so I applied to every program on ERAS except one. I went on 18 interviews. Again, overkill.
Any standout programs?
I liked Washington Hospital Center-great down to earth faculty and appeared to be a supportive environment with lots of hands on opportunity
OSU- great program
University of Minnesota- Again, seems like the people there are really nice and the fellows don't seemed stressed at all and appeared to enjoy their experiences.
Iowa seemed great as well. Honestly, I liked my top ten a lot and would have been pleased to match anywhere.
One thing that came up on my interviews a lot was the amount of oral presentations I had, but the fact that I didn't publish any of them. If I had one piece of advice, I would say publish at least one of your poster or oral presentations. I am from a community program so I did an away rotation at a more well known place and received letters from their MFMs as well. However, away rotations necessary, especially if you are from an academic program and your MFMs already know people. My friends that recently matched did not do away rotations.
Good luck!
