How has interview release day been for everybody? I've heard that many positions will likely go unmatched this cycle for the first time. Many candidates that would have done onc before seem to be going into MIGS instead, or maybe even urogyn (they had a very competitive year, apparently 2:1 applicants). Onc also probably falling out of favor due to lifestyle.
Do you know how many applicants applying this year? I heard that it’s way more than last year.Yeah they made it a lot easier to open up programs, all you need are three attendings basically. I suspect declining applicant numbers will be a continued trend and a lot of these programs wont be able to find anyone to fill them

I agree! Everyone I know has gotten around 15. Although I know others with only 2 interviews (They are IMGs requiring visa).I think interviews may be inflated too, everyone I know has gotten >20. northwell sent out 40 or something so like almost half the applicant pool for one spot lol the grind never ends
