Generally speaking, are more people going into fellowship nowadays or it just me? Does the job market force people into fellowship?

I think I would really like to stay comprehensive, but am worried if finding a job would be very difficult as a result (not looking to be rural, probably outskirts of big city).

There are plenty of opportunities available for fellowship trained ophthalmologists as well as just generalist. However, the lack of positions available in the metro areas is the reason folks are going into fellowships in my opinion.
