Hi everyone, I just sent in my application yesterday (8/21) and I have a few questions I am hoping you will help me with.

First, how long does GPA calculations take usually when the application is this late?

Second, I took the DATs on 8/8 and I still haven't gotten the scores on the ADEA website yet. It says 1-2 days but is that 1-2 days AFTER I submit my application?

Third, how big of an impact does being late have on my application? Below are my stats. I have looked at some of the spreadsheets and the "Mod SA Formula" gives me 14.7 which means I am competitive at all schools besides Harvard. I find at very very hard to believe. Can anyone shed light on how accurate the formula is?

These are my stats, feel free to ask me any questions.

Stats:
Science GPA: 3.5
oGPA: 3.5
AA 24 TS 23 PAT 24 (RC 25 QR 23 OC 21 GC 26 BIO 23)

I have volunteer, research, and shadowing experiences.

Here are the schools I am applying to:
Boston, Buffalo, Columbia, Connecticut, Marquette, Midwestern, New Jersey, New York, Stony Brook, Temple, Tufts.

I applied two cycles ago and my memory is a little hazy so I can't answer your first 2 questions. As for the third question, you are just a TINY bit late but you WILL get at least a couple interviews unless you have red flags in your application. From there on out, everything depends on your personality, interviewer, etc. I applied even later than you and got in. I hope that through my post I will give you hope:

I took my DAT in September, applied in first week of October, then everything got processed within the next couple weeks. Then I started sending in secondaries one at a time. At the time I was waking up at 5:30AM, making a 1.5 hour commute to work in L.A. traffic, working until 5PM, making a 1.5 hour commute back, then private tutoring for 2 hours. I was pretty exhausted at the end of each day, so working on these secondaries were hard. I sent out a couple secondaries in November, and my last couple in the first week of December. I got two interviews, 1 acceptance, 1 waitlist.

Stats:
Cummulative gpa : 3.7
BCP gpa: 3.7
AA: 23 , PAT:22
Had research, volunteer, shadowing, and worked as a dental assistant for a year or two after undergrad.

Applied to UCLA, UCSF, USC, UOP, Harvard, NYU, Columbia, Upenn, UNLV, ASDOH, and two others that I don't remember. Sent secondaries to nine of those. Got into one of the ivies.

Looking back, I wish I had applied earlier. I definitely think I could have gotten more interviews. But if you submitted yesterday, I think you will be FINE. It looks like you cast your net wide so don't worry! You will get a couple interviews with those stats but they might be one of the later dates. Only check your emails once a day and pick up a new hobby or something to keep your mind off of dental school apps.
