anybody.............................
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks everyone.
but i had read somewhere that largest embrsure is between maxillary lateral incisor and canine.correct me if i m wrong.

1.REDUCED SERUM POTASSIUM MIGHT PRODUCE WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING

RESULTS?

1.REDUCED MEMBRANE THRESHHOLD POTENTIAL.
2.ELEVATED MEMEBRANE THREHHOLD POTENTIAL.
3.HYPERPOLARISED CELL MEMBRANE POTENTIAL.
4.HYPOPOLARISED CELL MEMBRANE POTENTIAL.
5.HYPERACTIVE NEUROMUSCULAR REFLEXES.

2.WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING REPRESENTS THE SENSORY ORGANS COCERNED

WITH MAINTANANCE OF SKELETAL MUSCLE TONUS?

1.SARCOMERE
2.MUSCLE SPINDLES
3GAMMA EFFERENTS
4.PACINIAN CORPUSCLES.
5.GOLGI TENDON ORGANS.
3.
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING REPRESENTS THE PRESSURE CHANGE WHEN

DIAPHRAGM AND EXTERNAL INTERCOASTAL MUSCLE SIMULTANEOUSLY

CONTRACT?

1.INTRAPLEURAL PRESSUES DECREASES.
2.INTRAPLEURAL PRESSURE INCREASES.
3.ALVEOLAR VOLUME DECREASES

4.VOLUNTARY OVERVENTILATION OF LUNGS TESULTS IN:

1.DECREASED HION CONC.IN BLOOD.
2.INCREASED H ION CONC. IN BLOOD.
3.MARKED INCREASE IN PULMONARY UPTAKE OF OXYGEN.
4.INCREASED OXYGEN CARRYING CAPACITY OF VENOUS BLOOD.
5.DECREASED OXYGEN CONCENTRATION IN ARTERIAL BLOOD.

THANKS AGAIN
MALARIS

4) voluntary hyperventilation results in decreased H ion conc. ,coz H ion are rapidly removed from the circulation.

3) I am not sure of this anwer, but let me give my explanation.
When diaphram & ext intercostals contract, the volume of the pulmonary cavity increases and the inpleural pressure decreases ( it becomes more negative) so that the air enters the lungs.

2) Skeletal muscle Tonus is usaully maintained by the MUSCLE SPINDLE FIBRES. Muscle tension is maintained by the GOLGI TENDON ORGSNS.

correct me if I am wrong.

The answer is Golgi Tendon.

Muscle tonus refers to Tension of a muscle(resistance to stretch)
Golgi Tendon monitors muscle tension as it is connected in series with the muscle mass.

Muscle Spindles are connected in parallel to the muscle mass so they monitor muscle length.

2) Skeletal muscle Tonus is usaully maintained by the MUSCLE SPINDLE FIBRES. Muscle tension is maintained by the GOLGI TENDON ORGSNS.

correct me if I am wrong.[/QUOTE]

according to dental deck 408 i have 2001 edition muscle tone is by muscle spindle which is by stretch reflex.
please do chek in there.in muscle section
thanks

Hi anjali..u r right..the confusion here is what muscle tone means
I browsed the net and found this.

According to
Guyton’s Physiology “Even when muscles are at rest, a certain amount of tautness usually remains. This is called muscle tone. Since skeletal muscle fibers do not contract without an actual action potential to stimulate the fibers except in certain pathological conditions, skeletal muscle tone results entirely from nerve impulses coming from the spinal cord. These in turn are controlled partly by impulses transmitted from the brain to the appropriate anterior motoneurons and partly by impulses that originate in muscle spindles located in the muscle itself.

This part of the answer is right though...(USMLE Kaplan review)

Golgi Tendon r stretch receptors connected in series with the muscle mass so they monitor muscle tension

Muscle Spindles are stretch receptors connected in parallel to the muscle mass so they monitor muscle length.
