Filing for Tax return with no income

hello all,

I’m a 4th year and my preceptor mentioned that I can file a tax return this year even though I don’t have any incomez. This way, I can use income based payment plan for my loan and pay nothing for s year. I asked him for more info but he wasn’t able to give any more info. Can anybody shed some light on this? I tried filing a tax return last year thru H&R Block and they said I don’t have to file it because I have no income. Thanks!
