Although I know the VMCAS isn't due until Friday at noon, I was just wondering what everyone's final school choices were. I know that, for myself, I had originally intended on applying to Illinois, but scratched it off the list earlier this week when I realized that I wouldn't have time to write a decent essay.

My final list looks like this:
NC State
Mississippi
Auburn
Louisiana
Kansas
Iowa

What were everyone else's final school choices? Did anyone else procrastinate like I did and end up scratching schools at the last minute?

I am only applying to Illinois and Colorado this time around, I am kinda regretting that decision though. I am thinking I should of probably tried for more. I might apply though to Missouri in their last minute... I am still thinking about it. If I can recall I think that supp isn't due until November?

Bummer about Illinois for you, what is your home school?

I definitely should have researched more OOS schools to apply to, but I kind of have my heart set on UGA, my IS, this application cycle. So, in the end, I applied to:
UGA
Auburn

NC State is my IS, so crossing fingers that I'll get in there :xf: I was kind of bummed about Illinois, but I didn't want to do a sloppy job on their essay and possibly screw up other school's essays simply due to lack of time. Well, if I don't get in this round, maybe I'll learn my lesson: Don't procrastinate!

ETA: Don't know if you have any interest, but Louisiana's supplemental app isn't due until Nov. 15 .

Okay just submitted VMCAS today!!

Cornell, Colorado, Minnesota, Kansas, Washington, Louisana, Mississippi.

Then I also have Tufts and St. George.

I just need one to like me 🙂

Ready for my exhaustive list?

Ohio.

🙂

That is all.

I am quite dedicated to my IS this cycle. If I don't get in I'll expand the pool net year.

I ended up applying to : UC Davis, Colorado, Upenn, Mississippi, AUburn, University of Florida, UCD Dublin, Edinburgh. Here's to the wait! Good luck everyone!:luck:

How long after you submitted did it say that your application was received? It says my payment went through, but doesn't say received. . just complete. . . am I just being paranoid?

Tufts, Cornell, Penn, WSU, CSU, VMRCVM, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Davis (IS), Illinois!

I was also a little iffy on Illinois since my supplemental essay is looking pretty terrible at the moment (it was really fun researching my topic, but killer actually writing it...), but they have great wildlife, so I think I'm going to stick it out! Good luck to everyone!!

I think I've posted this in 3-4 posts already but for anyone who has missed my oversharing - here they are again. 😉

UC Davis
WSU
U Penn
Kansas

oh golly goshkins my stomach is in knots. (enjoying relaxing this evening instead of working on apps/feeling guilty because I'm not working on apps)

Hey I just started a thread with a poll in it so we can see who applied to what school and which schools are most popular. So go vote if you would like to! Good Luck to all of the Class of 2015 hopefulls!! 😀

Tufts (IS), Iowa, VMRCVM, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri

... Ready... set... convulse! It's my first cycle and I'm a little bit of a wreck 😀

I too had a similar concern immediately after dropping a few hundred on my schools... it said "complete" not "mailed" so of course I had to call VMCAS hotline right away. She assured me that they send out completed applications daily... especially now that they have been getting a lot. So keep checking that status! I didn't realize that it happened that way, I thought it was automatic... so I am glad I finished it last week so I did not completely freak out this week with worry! I submitted Friday, then went to the Sugarland concert to celebrate 😍 and then came back Sunday and checked, so I am not sure how long it took exactly to be "mailed" but it should be soon!

Oh, and I guess I will share my schools too, in order from most want to least want (though I want any of them really).
CSU, Edinburgh, UTK, Penn (IS), WSU

Here's to hoping I win the lottery (aka get into CSU)!

I submitted last Monday but have been having problems getting my study abroad transcripts sent in; those of you applying to Edinburgh, its an AMAZING campus/city/country! just slow with their transcripts...

my schools:
Iowa STATE (IS)
Colorado State
Cornell
UPenn
U of Minn
U of Wisc.
Kansas State

good luck everyone!

THE LIST!

Tufts, UPenn, Ohio State, Illinois, Washington, and Purdue. VMCAS now says everything is mailed and complete, and I just have to finish one Tufts essay and submit.

Now the SUPER fun part. 😱 <--- This is me every time I open my email hoping for something from a vet school. 🙄

Lol and then this is the look I get when there is nothing there---😡

Ok, final list (also voted in DVMDream's poll), but procrastinating on starting MO supp, so here goes:
VMRCVM (IS)
Illinois
Missouri
Edinburgh
Dublin

List has been super shortened, and suddenly I panic b/c it looks too short. Oh well, it is what it is now. Except for MO supp...ughh. The stress of waiting has not quite kicked in yet since I still have that one sitting over my head.

I just submitted VMCAS.

Final List:

UF
Purdue
U Tenn
Wisconsin
Kansas
Iowa
Oregon
Minnesota
Mississippi

Did you study abroad in Edinburgh?! It looks like something out of a Disney fairytale, and naturally this is why I want to go there.

And to those who are checking their emails like crazy... DONT! I assume any email from a school at this point can't be good... its too early and it probably means I forgot something and will not be considered. I did email a bunch of admissions people asking DID YOU GET EVERYTHING (especially because WSU's "portal" does not show that they got my VMCAS, the woman, Barbarba who probably hates my guts said that it just has not been downloaded yet). So many little things to worry about. Can't wait til Christmas (it's going to be either really awesome, or super stressful)... that's when CSU starts their stuff I think!

Final list is Colorado State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Minnesota, Illinois, UPEI, VMRCVM (I'm from Maryland, so this is technically my in-state). Even if CSU doesn't exactly count anymore 😉

I'm getting ready to submit within the hour... I AM SCARED!
My final list: Oregon😍, Washington, Colorado, Kansas

Tennessee (IS) :xf:
Auburn
Mississippi

Just Tufts! The admissions people are so nice on the phone and by email... Hopefully they won't get tired of me as I'm sure I'm going to contact them frantically a bunch of times over the course of the next few weeks 🙂

They won't! They are SO NICE. I called about a hundred million times last cycle, especially after I was waitlisted, and they literally remembered me every time and commented on how good it was to hear from me. And knew who I was when they met me in person at my interview. So nice!

My final list:
VMRCVM (IS)
U. of Tenn
Auburn
UF
Tufts

I only added UF to the list last week. It was kind of gut wrenching to make a decision like that so close to the end, LOL. Especially since UF means more pre-reqs for me to take. Obviously, my school choices were based mostly on region. 🙂

Auburn, CSU, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, LSU, Michigan, Illinois, and Penn (my IS)
Very excited...and terrified. :scared:

My list: Penn, VMRCVM, Ohio, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa, Tufts and PEI. As much as I'm going to hate this waiting period, I'm thoroughly relieved to be through with this application cycle! Good luck everyone!

I'm applying to Davis (IS), Western, Washington, Oregon, Minnesota, UPenn, and Wisconsin. I was going to apply to Illinois, but it was my last choice (although I suppose I can't really afford to be picky), plus I ran out of time for that damn essay.

Does anyone know if it'd be a good idea to contact Illinois' admissions to tell them I won't be applying there any longer? I've already submitted and sent them my GRE scores and transcripts, but it seems like the polite thing to do.

In this context, I wouldn't bother. Illinois is being inundated with hundreds of applications I'm sure, and lots of additional paperwork from people who end up not actually applying. Plus they're getting lots of phone calls from applicants. Don't add to the craziness. When your VMCAS doesn't show up tomorrow, they'll know to toss your stuff.

Did you study abroad in Edinburgh?! It looks like something out of a Disney fairytale, and naturally this is why I want to go there.

Yeah, I spent a semester there and it is incredible. The people are awesome, the area is really historic and beautiful, there's a pub on every corner; what else could you ask for! I really miss the place but dont think I could go to vet school there just because you're basically starting over as a freshman (they do 6 yr combined undergrad/grad program)...

Don't they have a GEP where you can do it in four years, if you already have a B.S/meet certain requirements? I know a couple people who have gone there, and there was an option besides the full program.

Yeah, and the non-GEP program is 5 years, not 6. Most American students with a bachelor's can start in the GEP and be done in 4, but if your GPA is a little lower or you haven't had a lot of upper level science, they generally put you in the non-GEP.

Just Davis this year, my IS. Then expanding to about 10 next year. 😀

No, TT, I beat you. I just didn't want to be the person on here with the most applications. But if it will make you feel better, I'll admit it. Hey, I figure the more apps, the more likely just one is going to say yes!

I have Auburn, Davis, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Washington, Western, Penn, Tenn, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, and PEI. I added Glasgow and Edinburgh because they don't have supplementals and I wouldn't mind going to Scotland. And I'm debating on Tufts.

Wow...typing it out really makes it seem like a lot more. But, my IS is Davis, and I didn't even get an interview last year...so I don't really have a lot of faith in getting in there. I hope my strategy works

Just curious...for TT and goldilocks....out of the apps, where would u each want to go most??

Also goldilocks are u in socal or nocal?

Holy crap...I mean...carp!

This is going to be your year, TT. I can feel it. Hopefully Okie State wises up this year and lets you in!

If not, I hope you go to the same vet school I do cuz I'm in love with the corgi on the left in your avatar! Just wanna give him/her a big ol' fuzzy squeeze!

And you seem wicked cool too, of course (but I promise I won't give you a fuzzy squeeze 😛)

I would go to different ones for different reasons. I would go to Davis because it would be convenient to stay in California, especially for vacations when I could just drive home to my parents' with my dog. I've never had to worry about flying home, and after being able to just throw everything in the car for four years I am horrible at packing. And I hate the hassle of airports! To a lesser extent, the same reasoning applies to Western. It would be great to stay in Ca, and their curriculum is pretty cool in my opinion. But I hate LA.

I had an interview in Kansas last year and, although it was in the middle of nowhere, I liked the campus and the people a lot. I would definitely be happy to get in there.

Other than that, I know about the other schools mainly from their websites. So I'd really have to go visit to form a solid opinion on which I prefer.

And right now I'm smack dab in the middle of Ca, but my parents are in the bay area. And sadly, being an unemployed college grad, I'm going to have to move back with them. It will save money on rent and there will be more job opportunities.

Oh, well Oklahoma would be the cheapest and such, but beyond that I've chosen schools that I would be happy to attend. If I had to choose between them (ha) it would just depend on what schools I'm picking from.

Livestockdoc, those corgis aren't mine... but I do have one. She's not much for cuddles but she loves belly rubs and playing fetch. 🙂

OK, laundry's done so...

Cornell, VMRCVM, Ohio State, Illinois, and Colorado Sate U (DVM/MPH).

BEST of luck to EVERYONE! :luck:

Here's hoping we meet at an interview in the future.

And now, since I have to be up for work tomorrow, I think I'll skip o-chem and finally get some 😴...

TT and goldie is this your second year of applying?

Third for me. But only IS the first two times!

Okay, I was just wondering you seem so knowledgeable and qualified. Have you stayed in school in between cycles or are you working else where?

My final list: UC Davis (IS), Colorado State University, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Iowa State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Tufts.

Everyone's lists are so different — it's quite interesting!
