Hi all,
Would appreciate a quick look at my proposed school list...I only have 12 schools- don't want to go overboard but I'm sure with my on-the-fence stats (3.54sGPA, 3.68cGPA, and 32T MCAT) it would probably benefit me to add a couple more.

I am a NYS resident and non-URM female. I have some pretty good ECs, including several leadership activities (founder/president of two campus groups, one of which has to do with health and wellness), paid (hospital-based) clinical work, AmeriCorps (and other) volunteering experience, and some academic and service awards. Most of these activities I have participated in 3+ years. I also have some good LORs.

As you'll probably be able to see, I'd really prefer to stay in NY, although I understand that might not be possible (particularly since aside from our state schools, our other schools here in NY tend to be more on the upper-tier side!)

Albert Einstein (probably reach)
Boston University (seems from other thread searches they're relatively OOS/my stat friendly)
Columbia University (definitely reach)
Drexel University (same reasoning as with BU)
Eastern Virginia Commonwealth (and same reasoning again)
Hofstra
New York Medical College
New York University (reach)
SUNY Downstate (one of my top choices)
SUNY Stony Brook (other top choice)
SUNY Buffalo
Cornell (definitely a reach, but hey, I can dream! 😛)

I was also thinking of adding George Washington and Quinnipiac. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to any and all who read and respond 😀

Add SUNY Upstate as well. Any SUNY school you would have a good shot. List seems great. Maybe add a few more as safety but I'd put a bet on you getting into at least 1 SUNY. NYU/Cornell/Columbia you have a very outside shot at but you never know. I would also put the cheaper SUNY schools over them anyways. Good luck. Great job with the T on the writing.

I think Einstein is within reach, but not NYU. Your numbers are really nice, but avg, and NYU is well above avg. This whole business of "reach" doesn't impress me...it's more like "make a donation in the form of an application fee". Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes on the prize.

Albert Einstein
Boston University
Drexel University
Eastern Virginia Commonwealth
Hofstra
New York Medical College
SUNY Downstate (one of my top choices)
SUNY Stony Brook (other top choice)
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY Upstate
Temple
Jefferson
PA Commonwealth
Quinnipiac.
Rowan NJ
Tufts
Mt Sinai
George Washington (expensive, so it's the last of my list) ditto Georgetown

If anything remove Cornell, i am not trying to break your dreams but they are extremely selective, that and an avg mcat of 35 and GPA of 3.7 both of which are higher than your statistics. Its not a reach more like a prayer.

For sure add all the sunys and I wouldn't waste money on any of those super reaches. I know some people with lower stats do who are applying to 30+ schools but since you want to apply to less schools make them count and apply to those you have a good chance at.

I think you should get rid of Cornell and Columbia and replace them with more mid tier schools. Stats just don't cut it. Also look at privates in Philly (temple, jefferson) and Chitown (Rush, Loyola). I would try to at least have 15 on your list.... at least.

Thanks so much for all your assistance and advice, everyone! You were very helpful!
Make no mistake, I know I don't have the stats for a top tier school. I really just want to go to a SUNY so I can live out my days (for a relatively lower tuition) in the city that gives us the best pizza, bagels, and Ghostbusters 😁

were you admitted anywhere? Have simialar stats wondering how you did? when did you submit your primary app?
