Hello, I am currently panicking about med school applications in general. I've just been super stressed, especially with the unexpected low MCAT and would really appreciate some help.

cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS: cGPA 3.78, sGPA 3.66

MCAT score(s) and breakdown. Include all (non-voided) attempts.: 507 (130/125/124/128) This really hurts my application I know

State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US): NC

Ethnicity and/or race: Asian

Undergraduate institution or category: Public University

Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer)
- 480 total - 250 hrs MA unpaid externship, 130 hrs Patient sitting (+350 anticipated), 100 volunteering (+70 anticipated)

Research experience and productivity
- 750 wet lab (+300 anticipated), I work with HIV and have a poster. Didn't mention in app, but I am LGBT+ (if you consider asexual to be LGBT) and have multiple friends who are as well

Shadowing experience and specialties represented
- 40 hrs total split among primary + 2 other specialties

Non-clinical volunteering
- 140 total - 70 hrs (+50 anticipated) music teacher/mentor, 70 hrs (+45 anticipated) does fun science stuff with kids, both volunteering are for underserved children

Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc)
- 200 hrs work as a coffee shop employee
- 160 hrs (+150 anticipated) TA for biology and biochemistry - I'm hoping this shows that I'm at least kind of competent at B/B?
- 100 hrs leadership - Director of graphics for our school hackathon. Basically, I draw/design things and manage other people who draw/design things. This is unique I think, but I only started because my CS friend wanted help
- 3.5k hrs music, was one of my MMEs
- Unique? music hobby I included in a separate entry (I make music covers of songs on my instrument)

Relevant honors or awards: None...

I don't really have much of a school list because I spent too much time panicking about my MCAT instead of being productive... However, I am definitely applying to my state schools and am definitely applying broadly. I'm not trying to get into a T20 or anything, I just want to get in somewhere. Hoping to apply to ab 30 schools if I can find enough schools with a low enough MCAT average. Anything would be really appreciated.

Here is my list so far:
UNC
Wake Forest
ECU Brody
VTC
Toledo
Rosalind Franklin
West Virginia SOM?
Alice Walton?

Your MCAT is competitive for all DO schools. Your main weakness is your lack of non clinical volunteering. Your hours are in mentoring/teaching and you have no hours in activities such as food bank, homeless shelter, etc. You could try these MD schools:
UNC
East Carolina
Methodist (when it opens)
Wake Forest
Belmont
Alice Walton
Roseman
NOVA MD
TCU
Medical College Wisconsin
Oakland Beaumont
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Albany
Quinnipiac
Also apply to DO schools and I suggest these:
CUSOM
VCOM (all schools)
WVSOM
LECOM
PCOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
MU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
AZCOM
DMU-COM

Oh dang it, I thought bc they were nonprofit volunteer organizations that they would count as nonclinical volunteering... well that sucks. Thank you so much for the school list!

You should have 150 hours minimum of food distribution, shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, legal support, transportation services, or housing rehabilitation before submitting your application, or your file might get screened out at most schools.

Now, you have public OOS schools that really look for students from their states, so you must show more than a superficial interest in living and serving the communities with Toledo and WVSOM (unless you grew up in Appalachia NC). ECU wants people committed to serving underserved rural communities, as is Campbell.
