I'm a senior, planning on studying for the DATs over the spring term and taking a year off before dent school. I have finished the predent rqmts (bio, chem, etc...) and take many additional classes (microbio lec & lab, genetics lec & lab, biochem, evolution, physiology). I am planning on taking a light courseload next semester.

This is my planned schedule:
Obesity and Weight Regulation (3cr)
Intro to Business Management (3cr)
Introduction to Wines (2cr)
Wine in Culture and History II (2cr)
Personal Finance (2cr)

What do you guys think of this? Keep in mind that I will be studying hard for the DATs too!

PS-Did any of you guys (and gals) have to take genetics lab? At my shcool, we have to do a fly lab. We are required to do an expirement in inheritance on Drosophila, we have to account (locate on chromosome, and determine dominace) for up to 4 genes. We have to wake up at 6am to collect virgin flies (which sucked) and also spend hour scoring thousounds (no joke) or flies! I was just curious if any other schools make their students do one of these monster labs?

yes, I had to take a bio class when I was a freshman and we had this exact same lab. However, I don't think this class is what you would considered a required class, but I might be wrong. I had to take it b/c I'm a bio major but none of the pre-med/pre-dent kids took it if they didn't have to. If this is your last semester and you haven't taken any physiology classes yet, I would recommend you taking a physiology class rather than a genetics class. For some reason, I am not sure how much that genetics class is going to help you in dental school. But again, these are just my thoughts about it....whatever you choose, good luck

I have already taken the fly lab to genetics, and i am taking physiology and biochemistry now.
