Many schools ask for a written explanation of a "C" but don't reconsider acceptances until you reach a "D." (For example, the University of Virginia). The best thing to do is contact the school that has accepted you and find out what their requirements are specifically. Of course, if you are on wait lists that you want to get off of, that adds another level of complication...
