i waited soo long to write this breakdown ! I was lurking around this site for 3 years, but just recently made an account 🙂
I studied for 3 months, and yes, it was looonng and tiring
The night before the test, I wasn't able to sleep well, and ended up being really tired in the morning. (my test was in the morning) and my legs were shaking from the moment I woke up till the test ended hahahah I was really nervous, and almost cried . But I prayed constantly and God gave me strength !!
here's my score:
PAT : 22
QR: 21
RC: 19
BIO: 22
GC: 24
OC: 29 😍
AA: 23
I first, want to thank the Lord !; He guided me thru, gave me comfort, and gave me this score !! This is an unbelievable score for me, cuz when I first took my first practice exam, I got a 14 or 15 , and didn't feel ready until the test day!! I also want to thank my family and friends who prayed for me and encouraged me <3 and Jeff ! thank youu !!! You helped me so much, and gave me a lot of advice !!! I'm really glad I made a friend like you 😀 You're gonna do great on DAT next month , and will get into dental school this year !!!
I also want to encourage any of you who are scared & discouraged by any of the practice tests you took to trust in yourself, cuz if I could do it, you can do it !!
and.. my breakdown..
PAT : CDP , Topscore, Ross's videos, and Kaplan . If you are not getting the score you want on PAT and havent bought CDP, please go ahead and make that investment ! I feel it's essential ! I reaaallly had a hard time on PAT when I first encountered it. It was my first time to see anything like it. Only after doing all Kaplan's pat tests and five CDP tests was I getting 24s. It just started to click all of the sudden.I also recommend topscore. Its hole punching is really similar to the real one. While CDP's holes are big, topscore's are pretty small, just like in the real dat. Kaplan pat was only good for the basic strategies. I don't recommend it personally cuz it's really easy, and if I only used kaplan, I wouldn't have gotten 22. Pat is all about practice and finding the strategy that works for you. Tic-tac-toe method worked well for hole-punching, and rapid-eye glance technique for angles that I learned from Ross's videos. The TFE was actually not that bad as people said. they were on par with cdp.
RC: Topscore and kaplan. I wasnt able to study much for this section except doing all the topscore and kaplan tests. well, I didnt know how to, and still dont know. Search and destroy all the way thru in the real dat. I was lucky to get pretty easy passages !! Thank God !
BIO: Kaplan white review book, topscore, AP bio Cliffnotes, Destroyer (1/4) and DATQVAULT ( six benchmarks) . Although most people say the Kaplan book is too basic and not helpful, I found the white review book to be more detailed and easy to read than the AP bio Cliffnotes. but thats just me 🙂 Kaplan white review book was great for the foundations, and for the practicing part, I recommend destroyer. I actually did only 1/4 of it two days before the test cuz I read someone's breakdown saying she/he got several problems right out of the destroyer. and I got two problems from destroyer,!! If I had not done bio destroyer, I would have got those two questions wrong. I wish I had done all of the questions.lol
GC and OC : everyone knows this: Chad and destroyer ! These are the only two combination you need !!! I mean it !! OC was one of my weakest section , ( I was keep getting 16 or 17 on the practice tests 😱) Get the foundations from Chad's videos ( he knows what he's talking about! )and go thru destroyer as much as possible until u get it ! I went thru the destroyer twice when my goal was to go over it three times. It took me a looong time to go over them cuz i was getting ~45% right. If you're weak on gc&oc like me, don't worry, the real test is much much easier than destroyer, especially oc ! I was surprised.
Just make sure to review all the questions u got wrong from destroyer multiple times, and u'd be good 👍
Although Im worried about my RC percentile (52.2% !!!!
) , overall I am really happy with my score 
hahaha It feeels soooo good to be done !!!!! I'd be applying next cycle , and my gpa is 3.51 and sci gpa around 3.3
Overall Tip: Pray, Pray, do A LOT of practice exams, and get people pray for you. Praying by yourself is great ! but having people pray for you is also important. You just do the work u need to do, and then God will do the rest. 👍
