HAHA I loved it. Im pretty sure that every lab has at least one Melvin. My personal experience with Melvin was this summer. Melvin threw away 29 24-well plates that I had done neutralization assays in. For those of you who dont know, neutralization assays take over 2 weeks to do and with so many plates, it was a month of hard work!!
 
this is more the undergrad lab experience i guess, but sweet data like this definitely applies to graduate research at times too... this cracked me up then, and continues to today..

I believe the apparent legitimacy is enhanced by the fact that I used a complicated computer program to make the fit. I understand this is the same process by which the top quark was discovered.
