Hey guys, Thank god its all over, here are my scores (took the test 6 hours ago):

PAT:22 😀
QR:19
RC:20
Bio:19
GC:21
OC:21
TS:21
AA:20

My GPA is 3.3, B.S in Biology. I'v applied to 6 schools: NYU, UMDNJ, Boston, U. Maryland, Tufts, and Temple.

What do you guys think my chances are for the 2006 cycle? The schools already have my AADSAS application. Unfortunetly its a little late but hopefully one of them will want me.

As far as the test goes, it was pretty straight forward. Basically I thought general chem and orgo were easier than Kaplan or top score. QR was def a little challenging.=>at least 4 line/sin equation questions =>like equations for a circle, finding amplitude for sin graphs 😱 The advice I can get for QR is not to think on a question more than 30 seconds. If u think you have no idea what the question is asking, mark it, and answer the EASY questions FIRST (usually towards the end 😉 ), so don't get stuck on one question.
The PAT as we all know was harder for angel ranking, the other sections except for Pattern folding were about the same compared to top score or Kaplan. Pattern folding was a joke for me. Biology, you never know what you gonna get, luck is really a factor in this one, just hope you will get the questions u know the answers to. RC was airight except for one passage about stock market with alot of information (at least 8 formulas, and u had to understand each one in order to answer some questions) 😡

Anyways I hope I was of some help to others, if you have questions, feel free to ask me. By the way im selling all my DAT stuff, so let me know if you are intrested.

Good job, especially PAT. 👍
But it is kind of late in the application cycle.
Good luck 🙂 !

Good job you will get in youve got good scores.
a questions about QR were there a lot of word problems, how many woudl u say out of 40? Any probabilities. Were the QR questions similar to that of the Kaplans same type of wording or is it really different? QR is definitely one of my weak areas. Also what sources did you use to study. Any other advice would be great too. thanks

Hi, I would say there were a good 10 wording problems on the test. the wording is really similar to ropscore or kaplan, and yet the numbers are less tricky. Now that you asked, I just noticed that I had no probabilities 😱 The advice I can give you is to master the type of questions in kaplan, barron, and topscore and you will score at least a 20. But I can't stress this enough: don't put too much time on a single questions, because the only challenge with QR is lack of enough time. So you would want to answer as many easy questions as possible and then move to the harder ones. My 15 year old cousin can figure out all the answers to QR if he put enough time to each one. If a question had easy numbers to work with, and yet you have no idea how to solve it, leave it to the end, and if you had time try working backwards; First using logic cancel 2, or 3 of the choices and then try plugging in the left choices in the equations untill you get the answer. Hope these helped you. Good luck. By the way you should realize that you may end up with 5 probability question=>You never know, It is very random.

I would definitely fax a copy of your scores to each of the schools to which you applied. It may be awhile before they get your official scores by mail.

Yes, that's what Im doing tomorrow. Hopefully that will speed up the process.

Thanks for the support everyone. I faxed them my scores yesterday. For those of you who have been through all this before, what is the next step? Should I wait for them to contact me or should I give them a call as a follow up? Thanx again.

do you want honesty?...you have a wonderful dat score but it's really late in the cycle, you'll probably have to reapply for 2007 cycle. but with your dat score and solid gpa, you'll get plenty of interviews in 2007.

Those are awesome scores... I don't think u'll have a problem w/ ur in-state schools (this late into the process) 😀

Appreciate the honesty lovechild404, and thanks for your support BabberSher. Now I am facing a huge dilemma. Let's say I get into NYU this cycle, and no other school. Should I not go and apply next year to get into my in-state school (UMDNJ) and save possibley 150 K? And I would really rather go to any school other than NYU, Too expensive and they suck. But my chances are the greatest at NYU. I can only wait and do nothing. :scared:

If i were you i would go with NYU you will save a year. and making money 1 more year faster thats 90-150k profit anyway. And remember that 300k your going to be paying over a long time so if u count inflation that 90-150 would be worth much more now than it will then and u can use it to invest, open practice watever. If you wait then there is a possibility of getting in or there isn't why risk it and applicant pool is growing, as they say S#it Happens. The sooner this school nonsense is over the better it is the faster you can get on with your life, just my opinion. Plus you might have to write another personal statement, resend and do all that application cycle all over again. I'm applying next cycle and i'm already dreading this whole process. Gluck with whatever you decide. Youll do fine.

Thanks for the advice, **** does happen. I never looked at it from your perspective, 150 K might be worth it after all. I'll see what happens, first I need to get into NYU

How much classification did u see on the bio exam {i plan on reviewing everything for BIO, but i'll only skim through the Classification part}

I wouldn't skim over anything for Bio, you really don't know what you should expect for this session. You might end up with 3-5classification questions

Salam Arash, 🙂
I think you better call the associate Dean of your Dental schools ASAp and let them know your score and then schedule a meeting with them ASAP.They are looking for someone who are really interested on their school.Believe me Call them Soon ISn't late today but tomorrow maybe. GOOD LUCK 🙂

Merc Hamid for your advice. What exactly do you mean by scheduling a meeting? What should this meeting be about? Most schools prefer not to be "bothered" by applicants, so would this request of meeting have a negative impact? Thanx again

Salam Arash 🙂 congratulation nice scores!!! Good Luck

Salalm Arash,
Trust me just ask for seeing the dental school and get some information regarding the school and make sure you get an appointment from Dean .It is really important to meet them in person and ask them about your file and your situation. It is really imortant they know you in person, because sometimes there is possibility your file is incomplete. So go there and talk to them bravely. Thanks
Hamid

salam arash,

If i were you i would wait and apply for the next cycle. Your scores are excellent so if you apply early like june 1st for example you have a really great chance of getting in to your in state school or at least a school that you would rather go to. Personally I haven't heard the greatest things about NYU. Since they accept so many students every year its my understanding that some end up getting weeded out. My friend for example failed out her 4th year. She was horribly in debt not to mention the fact that she literally wasted four years of her life 🙁 Best of luck to you in the future and eshallah you will get into the school of your choice 🙂

Salam Maryam jan, and merc for the advice

I know about NYU but I just have to wait and see what happens this cycle :scared: , I have already wasted a year after my graduation doing nothing (be andaze kafy poshtam bad khorde 😀 ). If I have to wait one more year I know that I will become depressed 🙁 I have applied for some lab jobs but they all need experience, and I am tired of not having a job or school. Anyways so what happened to your friend? You mean she didnt become a dentist in the end? That is horrible. NYU sucks big time, but if I get in this year I cannot risk it and wait another year.
So maryam where are you from and are you a predental student? Im in NJ by the way. Thank you again and best of luck to u as well. Khodafez. 🙂
