Just finished my last final today. First semester of pharmacy school done and over. whew

In other news who else is looking forward to Avatar? I am going to see it in an Imax theatre. I have never been to an Imax theatre so I am looking forward to that. Anyone here ever been to one? Are they as good as they claim or overrated? Then it's off to spend time with my family for the holidays. Who else is excited for the break/whatever plans you have?

I got done with my semester last thursday around 4 PM. Since then, I've just been at home sleeping a lot and reading some books for fun. I've been on SDN, doing Sudoku puzzles, hanging out with people from undergrad, etc.

I'll probably do more of that over the break. I need to go shopping some time too.

Congrats! You're one step closer to never having summer and winter breaks!! 👍

Too funny!

No way! In Nashville for a few days now with my Rx school friends. Work for 4 days next week, then head home for the holidays to spend with the fam. Work 4 days...then off to San Fran/Yosemite for a week at New Years. I refuse to miss out on "winter break"! 😉

Good luck on finals guys...then be sure to have fun when it's all over. You've earned it!

Only a drug rep gets those working hours.

I'm done too...wooohoo.

spiriva - i'll be in SF over christmas/new year's, too 👍 haven't been to yosemite in a while. been meaning to climb up half dome, but i don't want to be like those newbies that couldn't handle it and ended up falling to their deaths 👎

Nice one.

I remember during my interview with the ADCOM they asked me if I can handle going to school 11 weeks straight and then being off 2 weeks. My response to that was so I get 8 weeks off each year? That's more than I get off now so where do I sign? 😉

Stavi and Spiriva: Don't you have enough days off during the year to where you can take enough days off during the winter and during the summer to have short breaks?

I get about 30 days off per year. I have taken week and a half off once. But here's what you have to understand. Typical pharmacist have daily duties..and when they're off, someone else does the work.

My work sits there and waits for me while work and project increases while I'm gone. It's hell to pay when I get back to work. Many times, I sift through emails and answer them while I'm on vacation..to lessen the load when I get back.

Yet, I'm not complaining. And I'd get bored if I was off for 2 to 4 weeks. Now..if I can leave the blackberry at home and leave the country for 2 weeks, that's another story..but I can't do that yet with 2 little kids.

So, I typically will take 2 to 3 days off here and there.. and couple that with weekends.. and end up with 4 to 10 days off at a time..

I finished finals a week ago. I've been an ultra mega bum since. I'm happy to be a P1.5 now though. 😛

I'm done with my first semester too. The only productive thing I've been doing is Sudoku puzzles and taking forever

I've thrown productivity out the window. I am working on a few internship applications for the summer, so I guess that's being productive. 🙂

I should probably look into that. If I hear anything back from Cardinal Health about a summer internship, it would be great. I already did an interview, but they haven't let me know about anything for the summer. I clearly told them that I'm interested in doing nuclear pharmacy in the long run, but I'm not sure what they think of it.

Sure...I have 20 official days of PTO which I started with. Technically I could schedule them all together, but like Z...I like to break them up into lots of small breaks.

I manage several pharmacists here who have been with the company for a long time, who each have 35+ days of PTO...so as you can imagine it can be a challenge to work it all into the schedule.

What's unique about the way we operate our 24-hour pharmacy though, is that we give our pharmacists a "comp" week off after they work one weekend + one week of nights. This doesn't even include your PTO. So in our current 6-man rotation, you are off once every 6 weeks as well.

We're a large enough pharmacy that needs 9 pharmacists on staff, and are looking for one to fill that last spot. Being down one, I decided it would be easier to just jump back into the rotation these past few months and not disrupt everything around the holidays. With all of this comp time, that's why I can manage to take so many trips that I really enjoy. I really don't mind jumping in too, because I can see the gaps in our ops process and figure ways to fix them.

Like Z though, just because I'm gone doesn't mean the work stops there. Even though I'm on vacay now...I'm still on ocassional conference calls, answering emails on the blackberry, and drafting memos to the customers.

damn i'm glad its over for my first semester, wasn't bad did really well but damn u have to study. Now to booze, party, sleep, and just recovery time for another 5 more month.
