Finding a job in another state

We haven't received a lot of guidance on how to find a job in general pediatrics in an area far away from residency. Most of my residency's graduates stay in the area, so I'm not sure if it has even been that much of an issue in the past. Since a lot of pediatrician jobs are not advertised widely, how does one go about starting the job search in another state? I was told that headhunters usually advertise less desirable jobs (hence their necessity in the first place). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
