finding coefficients for redox

On the DAT would it be possible to be asked to find the sum of coefficients for a redox rxn? It seems like this would take entirely too long unless someone has a quick version of balancing that my book doesn't have.

Which book are you using? The Kaplan blue book has a pretty good explanation of balancing redox reactions... shouldn't take more than a minute or two as long as you know how to do it.

Yes they can ask you that. I had something similar to that.
