I just got done with it a few hours a go. First I'd like to thank the people who contribute to this forum. I definitely got some good advice and am thankful.
So as far as the test is concerned I didn't find it too traumatic of an experience. I guess I was kinda lucky, there weren't too many molecular bio questions which I was expecting. Most of them dealt with transcription, translation etc.. I think I got about 5-10 biotstats, 10 tops for neuro with relatively easy MRIs, about 5 or so embryo, a few anatomy some of which were tough but others relatively easy. I think the upper limb generated most of the questions. Pharm was quite easy and straight forward. I was most concerned with this subject but as it turned out was one of the easiest sections. FA was good enough for almost all of them. There was one drug which I hadn't heard of. A ton of questions on path and pathophys (no big suprise). I definitely got a good deal of questions on musculoskeletal phys which was a bit of pain since I didn't focus too much on that. I thought if I knew all the bands that would be enough but nope, not today.
So as far as my opinion on qbank? I say depending on how you use it, it can either be a great learning tool or more or less a waste of time. I really studied the right and wrong answers hard. Anything mentioned in the question, or answer explanations I'd look up and read about. This definitely helped me a lot. I'd say about 10% of the questions on step I were very almost regurg of qbank. The others covered similar topics but asked different types of questions. Overall I'd say qbank is a little harder because so many of the questions there are very detailed and don't offer the chance to reason them out. If you aren't so good at reasoning well I guess Step I is harder than qbank. Step I is more of a thinking exam. I think a lot of people feel this way. Anyways I ended up with a 72% qbank average having done 90% of it. We'll see how that correlates. NBME questions were definitely more represantative of the real thing than qbank. 570 for that one. Well thanks again everyone on this fourm and good luck to those who are taking it soon.
