Hello SDNers . So I first started my college career at a california CC earning a 4.0 in all science classes needed for my major (Bio 1&2, Chem 1&2, Ochem 1) and I transferred to UCI for Public Health Sciences where I will complete the ochem requirement, as well as taking upper divs such as Biochem, physio, cell bio, and molecular biology. But when I am done with my bachelors I wont have money to take physics. Would it be a good idea to take physics along with any additional pre reqs such as sociology, anatomy at the local CC to finish my pre reqs? I plan on applying to DO only as they are CC friendly.

Anatomy isn’t a prerequisite. Have you thought about changing your major to accommodate all premed courses at UCI?

This is not a good reason to preemptively plan on applying DO-only. Do your best at UCI, do your best on the MCAT and then decide where you will apply.

What is the credit hour cutoff for financial aid? Can you just postpone declaring for graduation to take Physics and Sociology?

wasnt an issue for me. I took physics II at a cc because I couldnt fit it into my schedule pregrad and I wasnt going to stay at school for an extra semester just to take 1 class. It came up once in an interview (essentially as a way of asking"why on earth are you taking classes during your gap year") and obviously didnt matter because I was later admitted there. BTW the only general prereq your mentioned here is physics. You dont need anatomy or sociology.

Sounds good I will probably do that, as It is the cheapest option. If im granted interviews ill be ready to explain that. And psych+soc is a pre req for a lot of DO schools thats why I mentioned so
