okay, so everyone loves first aid. BUT, DOES IT HAVE ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR STEP 1???

THANKS.

No. It's an extremely broad overview of the highest yield facts.

then how do you find out ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW???

here's what i'm using:

First Aid
QBank
BRS Path
Robbins Review of Pathology
BRS Physiology
HY Behavioral Science
HY Neuroanatomy
HY Cell and Molecular Biology
Clinical Micro Made Ridiculously Simple
Goljan Audio for Path
plus some micro and pharm cards

for the basics I think you should at least have:
First Aid or Step Up
QBank
BRS Pathology
HY Behavioral Science (told to be very HY so you don't want to miss these freebies)
BRS Physiology if you don't remember it from first year

I used First Aid, Step-up, Pharm Cards, Micro made ridiculously simple, and Kaplan Q-Bank. I thought those were a great combination and cover all major areas well. I also scored a 238 which I was happy with.

See my posts in the USMLE forum. I replied to your PM, docmemi.

First aid doesn't have everything, but its a great start. Pick the top books from each subject and study those, that's probably the best way. But don't go buy everything, be selective.

Here is a review on first aid - http://www.gotmedbooks.com/findbooks.php?action=detail&booknum=65 and look around in the categories you need books in and find the best ones for you.

You have to study for Step 1, of course, and yet I had very few questions where I could say, "I only know the answer to this thanks to the last few weeks of studying!" It's that kind of test.
