First aid for CK

Did a (not terribly extensive) search for the answer to this topic. Could someone please point me a to a good discussion of the pros and cons of FA for CK if one so exists.

Overall, I think it's been a good "general/high yield" study aide for CK in my opinion. I'd recommend using the Kaplan books for a more thorough background and supplementing it with UW and First Aid.

FA has a ton in it, but it's really not readable. Crush, and things like Boards and Wards are readable, but is missing a ton of detail. World is basically the best resource you can find if you really take the time to read and learn all the answers. It's basically a several thousand page text on everything, in fairly readable format if you do it in tutorial mode.

I agree with the above posts. UW is the best source for Step 2 CK b/c of its focus on clinical knowledge / management / diagnoses (vs pathophysiology). FA for Step 2 CK still has a ton of pathophysiology which is not heavily tested on the real exam, making a low yield resource. UW + Secrets or Crush is a great option.

i liked FA cause it was a quick high yield review.. there's a ton of info in there if you use it as a refresher later on.. simply because many q's are what's the next step.. and FA doesn't tell you what to do first or how to do tests in what order.. but if you learned it some where else then it's a good quick way to refresh that knowledge.

that's why I have been using "Kaplan medical USMLE master the boards step 3" by conrad fischer. And so have a several of my friends. It is really good at " what is the most likely diagnosis" "what is the best next step?" " what is the best test?" "what is the most accurate test?" along with UWolrd and Kaplan notes
