step 2 is nothing like the traumatizing experience from step 1. i found that first aid was not as useful that second time around.
step 2 has a more clinical focus and it's more important to do questions - unlike step 1 where they want you to identify a factoid, step 2 uses "2 step" questions - i.e they show you a picture, and instead of asking what is this, they would ask, which drug would be most effective in whatever.. and just remember that from a management standpoint, the correct answer may not be what you experienced on the wards, but that's the answer you have to put.
you're better off doing questions -- the NMS REview for USMLE step 2 is perfect review for step 2. in terms of content - the Blueprints series are decent - Psych and ObGyn especially. surg is so-so... med and peds lacks content but have a good outline.
i did 1 or 2 practice tests from NMS review, and the CD rom that came with the registration materials. the stuff from the wards really stuck. i was happy with my score.
