I got the new First Aid for Step 1 2005 and I'm really starting to plow through it but I'm having a problem. Many of the topics in the book are not listed in the index. Has anyone in the past ever made their own index (for previous editions)? It seems like it would be possible by scanning the entire index into some a PDF document then perhaps converting it to MS WORD and manually adding certain topics that are unlisted in the index. It's really hard to find certain things unless you just browse the entire section you know it should be in but sometimes it's not there (i.e. Meckel's Diverticulum is in the embryology section).

Also, are their PDF versions of the entire First Aid available? I noticed that as a whole, the 2005 is much improved (some confusing things removed, some figures overhauled, etc.). One major improvement to me is that they reduced the font size, leaving more room to add your own annotations and notes. I am loving this. It would be great if the sections that they removed that we all still consider "high-yield" could be merged to the new 2005 edition (on a PDF file if possible) from the PDF editions that did have additional information.

My main question is whether anyone else has made their own index or knows where to find one.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but I have this complaint with the 2009 edition. I don't think the index is very intuitive and I waste a lot of time trying to find a topic. The most recent example is last night, I was trying to find information about serous cystadenocarcinomas. I looked up "serous cystadenocarcinoma" but, nope, no luck. Then I looked for "cystadenocarcinoma" but again, nope. Next I tried "adenocarcinoma" and 3 pages were listed but they weren't what I was looking for. By then I was frustrated so I went to the repro section and scanned through every page until I found what I was looking for. 👎

It's cumbersome and I really wish the index was a little more detailed.

period. nothing to do about it.
I have been annotating goljan RR with FA pages so that I can find stuff in first aid using gol index.
