First Aid Question: for 2012 Step I

I am taking the Step I in 2012. I was thinking about getting the First Aid book to flip through as I finish M1 and for my M2 year. I saw that the latest edition is First Aid 2011, which got me thinking...

Do you guys recommend:
(A) getting the Step 1 2011 book and using it through my Step 2 exam,
without worrying about buying the updated 2012 book when it releases?

(B) get Step 1 2011 book and then buy the updated 2012 book in case anything changed?

I doubt they change much year to year but it says they update the book based on that year's Step exam...

I got/will get both. (I take it 2011) Anyway, I got FA when I started because most of my friends were third and fourth years and told me too. I simply used it to study along and as my cramming tool before quizzes or exams. It is much easier to scan over FA than all of your notes and powerpoints.

The newest version will be my true Step 1 study version. I'm realistic and know that a lot of the stuff I scribbled in my current version is not needed or out of focus for the exam. Also, in the grand scheme of how much money I spend on my education and other extraneous things, the extra 30-40 dollars seems somewhat trivial. I followed the recommendations of friends and saved money by not buying a board review book for every class, so that leaves enough for a new and clean version. Of course, I also barely pay utilities and don't have cable, so that helps too.

Thanks so much! I agree that it is worth spending the extra money for a clean book, and an updated book (since they change things).

Just curious why friends recommended not buying review books for individual classes?

it sounds like your already sold on getting the latest the FA ... which will prob benefit you in the long run

if you must, buy the 2011 book for end of 1st year and the first half of 2nd year....when the 2012 edition comes out you just unbind the 2011 book and add the new pages of 2012 and rebind the book.
