I mean the information is still there, but they relabeled the section in FA 2016 into just regular "acute" and "chronic" gastritis, no mention about there being Type A and Type B. Why the change in nomenclature? New standard in the GI community?

Yes etiologic classification is now the generally accepted standard which helps with the treatment.

Because it has absolutely zero importance for Step 1. USMLE doesn't care about things called A or B. They just want you to understand what's going on.
