I only have the NBDE First Aid, and I'm not all that impressed. It's easier for me to go through systematically first, rather than doing the mixed-up cards, and the book is a nice outline. But there are a few big down sides.

Some of the sections are HORRIBLY edited, to the point of wrong information (one table is completely backwards) and distracting/confusing spelling errors. Also, the other day I was going through the micro decks, thinking that something looked really familiar. That's when I realized that the micro section plagiarizes the cards! The book has the exact same information, sometimes word-for-word, sometimes rearranged a little so that it doesn't look like they copied it. Even the little key points in the margins are lifted from the "important" notes on the decks. I think this is only true for micro/path, but still. Seriously? Either they both copied from the same source, or something's fishy here.

Maybe future editions will be better edited and/or not plagiarized. But I wish I'd gone with USMLE instead.

is usmle first aid a bad choice to study from for part1 ??? if no then why are u guys dejecting it? my friend studied from the first aid n she did score in 90s in her second attempt. plz guide as iam also refering first aid if i dont understand some topic in kaplan review. i have latest decks. also guide if i should take crack the nbde?

I think you misunderstood what drtacoelf and I meant. We both agree that USMLE First Aid is the best choice.

I think you are confused. We are saying USMLE first aide is a GREAT book. In my opinion it is the best book out there. 🙂

thanks i guess i got it all wrong. anyway can anyone share some information about crack the nbde? is that worth considering?

crack the NBDE is pretty good in the sense it comes pretty close to simulating the actual exam.The major drawback is that they have not given the explanations of the questions.I heard they updated KAPLAN's question bank.Does anyone know how different that one is from the old one?
