first batch of apps

Hi all, so SF Match is uploading the "first batch" of applications today - meaning they will be sent out to programs probably sometime this week.

Can anyone comment on how important it is to have your app in this first batch? Mine is still pending because of a LOR they still haven't received - are you at a big disadvantage being in the 2nd or 3rd batch?

Thanks and good luck to all of you!

Should make minimal difference, most places give interviews out in groups, not on a rolling basis...and that's not for a little while longer still. Only at a place with rolling offers could it matter, but a complete application done well but later is better than an early application that's thrown together.

Good luck

First batch not important at all IME. Most programs will wait for a decent stack before they start going through them.

just out of curiosity... how did you know they uploaded the "first batch?" I've been trying to figure out for ages when the date of first uploading would be, and couldn't find it on sfmatch.org. Just wondering if I'm totally blind 🙄

around what time would programs start getting a 'decent stack'? Beginning of Sept or middle of Sept?

I would guess that would be very program dependent. Some get significantly more apps than others. I don't think we even think of going through them until mid September.

Seconding amandil's question - how do you even know when applications were processed/uploaded by the SF match folks? Even in the interviews thread, people were talking about receipt dates and all.

Is this a new option, as when I applied a few years back, it didnt say!?
