First Face transplant in U.S.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Awesome. Did you do the anesthesia?

Don't forget about Hippa.

"The recipient was not shown a picture of the donor, and in animal experiments, 'the recipient never looks like the donor,' especially when the injuries are so severe, Siemionow said."

i overheard a surgeon yesterday saying that it's a requirement that the recipient transplant be made to resemble the donor as close as possible. any validity to this? also, kinda creepy if i was the family of the donor, seeing someone walk around that was once deceased.

Strictly rumor, but I heard an SRNA/CRNA team did the transplant anesthesia. A resident was doing the harvest. Breaks my heart to think that this is true, it is a sad day for my program, a sad day indeed if it is true.
